How to make aVolkswagen scale model with can beers (Arte de reciclaje)

Hello friends, today I want to introduce you to my work in recycling art, on this occasion a scale model of the famous Volkswagen Beetle, a faithful, simple and durable car, of the models that despite the changes still maintains its structure intact. In this work I want to show you how I did it.

Hola amigos, hoy quiero darles a conocer mi trabajo en arte de reciclaje, en esta ocacion un modelo a escala del famoso escarabajo volkswagen, uno auto fiel, simple y duradero, de los modelos que a pesar de los cambios sigue manteniendo intacta su estructura. En el presente trabajo quiero mostrarles como lo hice.

First of all we look for beverage cans that are in perfect condition to be able to use them. The way to cut them is very simple, we use scissors and tongs, cut the can on one of the edges and remove a sheet from it.

En primer lugar buscamos latas de bebidas que esten en perfecto estado para poder utilizarlas. La forma de cortarlas es muy sencilla, utilizamos unas tijeras y unas tenazas, cortamos la lata en uno de los bordes y sacamos de ella una hoja.

So we have a can after separating it into parts. The sheet will be used for the bodywork, and the circular base of the can will be used to make the wheels and tires. To make this car we will need a minimum of ten cans, that is enough to do it.

Asi nos queda una lata luego de separarla en partes. La hoja la utilizaremos para la carroceria, y la base circular de la lata la utilizaremos para hacer las ruedas y las llantas. Para hacer ete auto necesitaremos minimo diez latas, con eso es suficiente para hacerlo.

The next step is to draw the parts of the car, we can do this manually or using a program, I did some parts manually, such as the hood and bumpers and other more difficult parts I did by looking at plans on the internet. I made some templates of this model in pdf, if someone likes to do it I could provide it.

El siguiente paso es dibujar las partes del auto, esto lo podemos hacer de manera manual o utilizando un programa, yo hice algunas partes de forma manual, como el capo y los parachoques y otras partes mas dificiles las hice fijandome de planos en internet. Hice unas plantillas de este modelo en pdf si alguien gusta hacerlo yo podria facilitarla.

Once we have drawn the parts of the car we proceed to cut them into pieces, select the sheets we cut and place the drawing parts on them. We highlight the figure of the paper on the aluminum and then cut with scissors and proceed to join all the parts using a good glue.

Una vez que hemos dibujado las partes del auto procedemos a cortarlas en piezas, seleccionamos las hojas que cortamos y sobre ellas colocamos las piezas de dibujos. Remarcamos la figura del papel sobre el aluminio y luego cortamos con unas tijeras y procedemos a unir todas las partes utilizando un buen pegamento.

And so we have the body once we have glued each of the parts that we cut from the can. We must be careful because the aluminum sheets are very sharp.

Y asi nos queda la carroceria una vez hemos pegado cada una de las partes que cortamos de la lata. Debemos tener cuidado porque las hojas de aluminio son muy filosas.

With the circular base of the can we can make the wheels. The idea is not to waste anything we can get out of the can. Here I made two models, I have made many, but when it comes to cars I lean towards these two models.

Con la base circular de la lata podemos hacer las ruedas. La idea es no desperdiciar nada de lo que podamos sacar de la lata. Aqui hice dos modelos, he hechpo muchos, pero cuando se trata de autos me inclino por estos dos modelos.

Before putting on the wheels, apply two coats of glossy black paint. Usually I always leave my creations with the original colors of the cans, on this occasion I wanted to paint them to try to make the model I made a little more realistic.

Antes de ponerle las ruedas, aplique dos capas de pintura color negro brillante. Usualmente siempre dejo mis creaciones con los colores originales de las latas, en esta ocacion quise pintarlos para tratar de hacer un poco mas realista el modelo que hice.

Gloss black spray paint protects against rust. Used to paint the car model.

Pintura en aerosol color negro brillante, protege contra el oxido. Utilizada para pintar el modelo de auto.

Once the paint has dried, the details are refined and I finish by placing the wheels on the structure. This is the final finish. A Volkswagen model beetle.

Una vez secada la pintura, se afinan los detalles y termino por colocar las ruedas en la estructura. Este es el acabado final. Un Volkswagen modelo escarabajo.
