Weeks ago my dear @galberto, published a very interesting post about a plant that looked very similar to a plant that is very common to see in the field near my house, but investigating thoroughly it was not, they are close relatives but it is not the same plant. I remember that since I was a little girl my beloved grandmother Pancha used to tell me not to go near them because besides having many thorns, their fruit is poisonous. The fruit of this plant is of an intense yellow quite showy.
Cattle do not eat it, its fruits may be very beautiful and its leaves green, but they eat everything around it and they simply do not touch it at all, it may be that they know it is poisonous or perhaps its thorns are the reason, the truth is that grabbing this plant can be a real torment, because wherever you look at it it has thorns. I do not remember seeing flowers on this plant, so today when you see this do not hesitate to take some good pictures, the truth is that their flowers are beautiful, here fits the saying that says "Everyone has his beautiful side! Well, without a doubt, this is the side of this peculiar plant.
This plant is commonly known as the devil's apple, cat's balls, or cat's eggs, because of its peculiar similarity to the testicles of a cat, and it is also a family of the tomato that we consume daily. However, I have not been able to find out if it is really poisonous as my grandmother claimed, but its defense mechanisms (thorns) keep away its main predators. The Solanum hirtum is also used for its magical properties in baths to keep away bad energies. My grandmother and the old people near my father's farm, who have used it for many years, say that its thorns represent defenses against evil.

Semanas atrás mi querido @galberto, público un post muy interesante acerca de una planta que se me pareció mucho a una planta que es muy común ver en el campo cercano a mi casa, pero investigando a fondo no lo era, son familiares cercanos pero no es la misma planta. Recuerdo que desde muy pequeña mi amada abuela Pancha me decía que no me acercara a ellas pues además de tener muchas espinas, su fruto es venenoso. El fruto de esta planta es de un amarillo intenso bastante llamativo.
El ganado no lo consume, pueden estar muy hermosos sus frutos y verdes sus hojas, pero se comen todo al rededor y simplemente no lo tocan tan siquiera, puede ser que saben que es venenosa o tal vez sus espinas sean la razón, la verdad es que agarrar esta planta puede ser un verdadero suplicio, pues por donde la mires tiene espinas. No recuerdo haber visto flores en esta planta, por lo que hoy al ver esta no dude en tomarle unas buenas fotografías, la verdad es que sus flores son hermosas, aquí cabe el dicho que reza "¡Todos tienen su lado bonito!" Pues sin duda este es el de esta peculiar planta.
Esta planta es conocida comúnmente como manzana del diablo, bolas de gato o huevos de gato, por su peculiar similitud a los testículos de un gato, y además es familia del tomate que a diario consumimos, sin embargo, no he logrado dar con una información concreta acerca de si realmente es venenosa como lo afirmaba mi abuela, sin embargo sus mecanismos de defensa (espinas) mantienen alejado a sus principales depredadores, ¿Quién va a querer comerse algo con tantas espinas? El Solanum hirtum es además utilizado por sus propiedades mágicas en baños para alejar las malas energías, de esto si me hablaba mucho mi abuela y los viejos cercanos a la finca de mi padre, durante muchos años la han utilizado para este fin, dicen que sus espinas representan defensas contra el mal.

Guau en realidad es muy pero muy parecido a la planta que tenemos por aquí, vaya que si lo único que sus espinas de las hojas son un poco diferentes y si textura de la de aquí parece como tosca mientras la que tenemos aquí es suave y tersa como la seda, pues la recomendaremos para bañar a nenes como un buen remedio, muchas gracias por mostrarnos tan majestuosa planta.

Yo tambien habia jurado que era la misma planta, esta de aqui tiene la hoja como mas peluda y sus espinas son mas pequeñas. Lo que si, es que definitivamente son familia!! Saludos cariño!
