This week we start the day in our laboratory carrying out nutrient solubility tests in organic solvents. Why is it important to know this chemical property? Well, solubility in agriculture is of vital importance when referring to the availability of an element in the soil so that it can be absorbed by plants.
That an element is soluble will allow, in addition to being absorbed by the plants, to facilitate the work of applying nutrients through a technical irrigation system.
As in all the tests there are errors and successes, we had nutrients that did not dissolve due to the low temperatures in which we find ourselves, we had nutrients that dissolve perfectly but that precipitated after a few minutes. However, thanks to our mistakes we were able to improve and realize that starting with minimum doses is appropriate, as it allows us to gradually increase until we find the maximum dose of solubility.
Esta semana comenzamos la jornada en nuestro laboratorio realizando pruebas de solubilidad de nutrientes en solventes orgánicos. ¿Por qué es importante conocer esta propiedad química? Pues la solubilidad en la agricultura es de vital importancia al hacer referencia a la disponibilidad de un elemento en el suelo para que este sea absorbido por las plantas.
Que un elemento sea soluble va a permitir, además de ser absorbido por las plantas, facilitar la labor de aplicación de nutrientes por medio de un sistema de riego tecnificado.
Como en todas las pruebas hay errores y aciertos, tuvimos nutrientes que no solubilizaban debido a las bajas temperaturas en la que nos encontramos, tuvimos nutrientes que se disuelven perfectamente pero que a los minutos precipitaron. Sin embargo, gracias a nuestros errores pudimos mejorar y darnos cuenta que comenzar con dosis mínimas es lo adecuado, pues nos permite ir aumentando paulatinamente hasta encontrar la dosis máxima de solubilidad.
