Mil bendiciones mi gente de Hive y discord, en el marco de enaltecer a nuestros cultores le corresponde el turno una vez más a nuestro querido Maestro Luis Mariano Rivera, músico autodidacta, compositor, cantor, cuatrista, trovador, agricultor, catalogado como “El cantor de lo sencillo”.
El Maestro Luis Mariano Rivera, nace el 19 de agosto de 1906, oriundo del Valle de Canchunchú, Carúpano, Edo. Sucre. Su madre María Rivera, trabajadora de la tierra, amante del hogar, su padre Antonio Font (Blanco, dueño de tierras y destilería de Ron). Desde muy niño quedó huérfano, siendo hijo ilegítimo que para la época era mal visto por la sociedad, sin embargo es criado por su abuela y su tío “el Indio Rivera” (músico y compositor del género musical llamado Polo Canchuchuero).
Con el paso del tiempo, debido a la curiosidad que sentía por la música, justo a los 7 años de edad, le regalan un cuatro venezolano, el cual comienza a ejecutar alternando con sus estudios en la escuela, llegando hasta la escolaridad del 3er. grado, ya que su familia tenían muy pocos recursos, se vio forzado a colaborar un poco más, siendo contratado como peón en la hacienda de su padre.
Efectivamente, Luis Mariano, lleva una vida difícil, enfocado en la agricultura, así pudo valorar la belleza y el amor a la naturaleza. Sin embargo, en el transcurrir del tiempo, se hace un gran sabio, aprende a leer y a escribir después de adulto, se convierte en un hombre letrado y uno de los cultores más importantes de toda Venezuela. Fue formador de niños, niñas, adolescentes y adultos que le pedían orientación para cantar, hacer obras de teatros en las escuelas y en distintas comunidades, sobre todo en tiempos de navidad, formando grupos para cantar aguinaldos y parrandas en el pueblo.
Luis Mariano Rivera, amante y defensor de nuestra música, dedicado en alma, vida y corazón al servicio de su gente. Según Pedro Alejandro Marsella, hijo de Luis Mariano, en el año 1956 viajan a Caracas con ayuda de algunas personas amigas, ofreciendo un concierto en el Aula Magna de la Universidad Central de Venezuela (U.C.V), donde Rivera expresa las siguientes palabras “desinteresadamente, lo mío es llegar, hablar, traer el mensaje de mi terruño de tierra Canchunchú Florido, junto con los míos que me acompañan, no somos artistas, somos sembradores de conciencia… y la conciencia no olvida al pueblo que se está dejando arrastrar por otras culturas diferentes a las nuestras, la labor de nosotros debe ser integra desde el ser venezolanos”.
Lo más importante era cultivar la esencia del ser venezolano, manteniendo y preservando las diversiones orientales, los juegos tradicionales y las parrandas. Sus canciones tenían gran contenido social con una mezcla hacia la jocosidad, la protesta, el dolor y la alegría.
Dentro de sus temas musicales más importantes podemos mencionar los siguientes: Cerecita, El Mango, Guácara, Lucerito, Canchuchú Florido, El Sancocho, La Negra Anacleta, La Pascua es hermosa, Mi Coma ‘e Juana María, La guácara, La pascua es hermosa, Al niño Dios, Florecita, La viejita Ramona, Mi Nieta Francisca Antonia, Alma que llora, Así es mi Canchunchú, Canto a Bolívar, El sancocho, La taparita, entre otras composiciones, interpretadas por el Quinteto Contrapunto, Serenata Guayanesa, Jesús Sevillano, Morella Muñoz, Gualberto Ibarreto, Cecilia Todd, Lilia Vera, Víctor Morillo, Simón Díaz, entre muchos cantores.
El mayor exponente de las canciones de Luis Mariano, ha sido Gualberto Ibarreto, nacido en el pueblo de EL Pilar, Edo. Sucre. Gran exponente de nuestra música tradicional y popular de Venezuela. Asimismo, se puede apreciar en el video arriba mencionado, donde cantan Gualberto Ibarreto y el Maestro Luis Mariano Rivera, presentación que fue realizada en los espacios de la Universidad Central de Venezuela (Aula Magna) en el año 1990. Gracias a @tiemposdevinilo por la publicación y al Maestro @gualbertoibarretoo por regalarnos junto al Maestro Rivera la oportunidad de disfrutarlos en vivo.
Cabe destacar, durante el mes de agosto todos los años, se rinde homenaje al Maestro Luis Mariano Rivera, debido a la fecha de su nacimiento, aparte, fallece el 15 de marzo de 2002 a sus 95 años de edad, dejando un gran legado para nuestra cultura, sembrando y regando flores, enaltece nuestra identidad y siempre estará presente, siendo ejemplo de amor, constancia y dedicación para el pueblo, su música y su gente.

Luis Mariano Rivera, lover and defender of our music, dedicated in soul, life and heart to the service of his people.
