Mil bendiciones mi gente de Hive y discord, hoy les traigo El Polo, es un género musical muy difundido en la Isla de Margarita, el Edo. Sucre, en todo el oriente venezolano, también conocido en el occidente del país, Estado Falcón. Existen formas de interpretarlo pero según su estructura melódica y armónica es el mismo Polo, se diferencia en la forma de cantarlo o el estilo que cada cantor le imprime, por ejemplo, le pueden llamar de acuerdo al texto y localidad Polo doliente, Polo Canchuchuero, Polo Playero, Polo Margariteño, Polo Cumanés, entre otros.
El Polo desde el punto de vista literario, se escribe en forma de coplas o redondillas, son cuartetas octosílabas (estrofas de Arte menor, compuestas de 4 líneas o cuatro versos que constan de 8 sílabas cada una) a diferencia de otros polos que pueden ser escritos en versos endecasílabos (Arte Mayor que constan de 11 sílabas) por ejemplo en el Edo Nueva Esparta, lo interpreta magistralmente el Maestro José Elías “Chelías” Villarroel. Este género es muy libre y se ejecuta con algunos instrumentos musicales como mandolina o bandolín, cuatro y guitarra, asimismo, se puede tocar con Bandola Oriental, su base armónica va de tonalidad mayor a su relativo menor, en un compás de 3/4.
El Polo, tiene su origen en España y Arabia, se desarrolló en todo el oriente de Venezuela y en el occidente, Edo Falcón como lo mencioné anteriormente, debido a la marcada influencia del proceso de transculturación. A lo largo del tiempo, existen muchos intérpretes y agrupaciones de proyección que han grabado distintas versiones del Polo, por ejemplo: Orquesta Sinfónica de Venezuela, Aldemaro Romero, Los Cuñaos, Soledad Bravo, Cecilia Tood, María Teresa Chacín, Jesús Sevillano Lilia Vera, Hernán Campos, Alfredo Gutiérrez, Milagros Figuera, Serenata Guayanesa, Agrupación Folclórica CONVENEZUELA, Grupo Vera, Grupo Experimental Tambor y Gloria, el Grupo Estribillo, Grupo el Cuajao, Grupo Kariña, Cuerdas Neoespartanas, etc. Sin embargo, debemos tener en consideración y alta estima a nuestros Cultores y Cultoras, ya que originalmente son lo más genuino en cada pueblo y de ellos aprendemos, tales como: Luis Mariano Rivera, Gualberto Ibarreto, Oscar Lista, Lucienne Sanabria, Remigio “Morocho” Fuentes, José Gregorio “Gollo” Enis, María Rodríguez, Domelis Hernández, Mónico Márquez, José Martínez, Hernán Marín, Luis Argenis Zabala, Rosa María Hernández, Francisco "Chicomono" Cortesia, Paula Núñez, Juancito Silva, Ignacio Muñoz, Ibrahim Bracho, Francisco Mata, José Agreda, Alberto “Beto” Valderrama, Jesús “Pollo” Bellorín, José Ramón Villarroel y muchos más…
Y yo sigo aquí en Caracas, Venezuela, defendiendo, preservando y cultivando géneros de nuestra gran diversidad musical, dentro de los cuales se encuentra el Polo, que día a día se hace más necesario cantarlo, tocarlo en nuestros hogares, en las escuelas, en todos los contextos donde se pueda mostrar.
Por otra parte, hoy les traigo una muestra del Polo Playero que se interpreta en algunos pueblos cercanos al Golfo de Paria como Carúpano, Río Caribe, Guiria, Yaguaraparo, entre otros, es muy libre, suele ser un poco más rápido que el Polo Margariteño del Edo. Nueva Esparta, y en todo el oriente y occidente del país, refleja la cotidianidad del pescador o del trabajador de la tierra en el conuco que le canta a la naturaleza, al mar, a la madre, a la esposa, entre otros.
