In my home, my 90-year-old mother has always taught us with her example that Faith, Love, and Hope are necessary to overcome all obstacles in life. She married very young and had 9 children, being pregnant with her last daughter, she separated from her husband, without work, and without study, she had to raise and educate every single one of her 9 children.
En mi hogar mi mamá de ahora de 90 años siempre nos enseñó con su ejemplo que la Fe, Amor y Esperanza son necesarios para superar todos los obstáculos de la vida. Ella se casó muy joven y tuvo 9 hijos, estando embarazada de su última hija se separó de su esposo, sin trabajo y sin estudio le tocó a ella sola criar y darles una educación a todos.
HOPE
At first, she did not know what to do, she wondered how she was going to feed so many children, but her faith in God and in the Virgin of Chiquinquirá gave her strength, she did not feel alone. There were many prayers and tears in those difficult moments, but as she says "nobody is missing God", and so it happened since she received the support of friends and family, soon after she got a job.
Al principio no sabía qué hacer, se preguntaba cómo iba a darles de comer a tantos niños, pero su Fe en Dios y en la Virgen de Chiquinquirá le dieron fortaleza, no se sentía sola. Fueron muchas las oraciones y lágrimas en esos difíciles momentos, pero como ella dice “a nadie le falta Dios”, y así sucedió ya que recibió el apoyo de amigos y familiares, al poco tiempo consiguió un trabajo.
FAITH
My mom has a little place in the house where she has her Saints and the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, she prays every day and asks in Faith for our health and well-being. She taught us that Faith moves mountains, and she is an example of this. She also built in the front of our house a kind of little house for the virgin where you can leave offerings and ask with Faith for a favor that you want to be granted. She always spoke to us about the importance of having Faith in life.
Mi mamá tiene un pequeño lugar en la casa donde tiene sus Santos y la imagen del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, ora todos los días y pide con Fe por nuestra salud y bienestar. Nos inculcó que la Fe mueve montañas, y ella es un ejemplo de esto. También mandó a construir en el frente de nuestra casa una especie de casita para la virgen donde puedes dejar ofrendas y pedir con Fe por un favor que quieres que se te conceda. Ella siempre nos habló de la importancia de tener Fe en la vida.
LOVE
Love was always in my home, maybe we did not have toys or nice clothes, but we received a lot of love from my mother, who was for us mother and father. She is a very affectionate and attentive woman, at her age she has a wonderful memory and a lot of will, when we visit her she attends us and prepares a delicious meal with much love.
El amor siempre estuvo presente en mi hogar, tal vez no tuvimos juguetes, ni ropa bonita, pero recibimos mucho amor de mi mamá, quién fue para nosotros madre y padre. Ella es una mujer muy cariñosa y atenta, a su edad tiene una memoria maravillosa y mucha voluntad, cuando la visitamos nos atiende y nos prepara una rica comida con mucho amor.
Although my mother did not study, she always hoped that her children would study and become professionals, many people told her to send us to work to help with the household expenses, but despite so many needs, she never let her children work, they had to study in the hope of having a better future. Thanks to my mom we all graduated and are professionals.
Aunque mi mamá no estudió ella siempre tuvo esperanzas de que sus hijos estudiaran y fueran profesionales, muchas personas le decían que nos enviara a trabajar para ayudar en los gastos de la casa, pero a pesar de tantas necesidades ella nunca dejó que sus hijos trabajaran, debían estudiar con la esperanza de tener un mejor futuro. Gracias a mi mamá todos nos graduamos y somos profesionales.
My mother is an example of FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE, my beautiful old lady is the pillar of our family and we love her dearly.
Mi mamá es ejemplo de FE, AMOR y ESPERANZA, mi bella viejita es el pilar de nuestra familia y la amamos mucho.
