Today I want to show my tattoos, there are only 2, each one on one of my forearms. They both represent Norse symbols, I adore Norse mythology although some might consider it cultural appropriation since I am Latino. In my right arm I have the Aegishjalmur and in my left arm the Vegvisir, now I will go a little deeper.
Hoy deseo mostrar mis tatuajes, solo son 2, cada uno en unos de mis antebrazo. Ambos representan símbolos nórdicos, adoro la mitología nórdica aunque algunos podrían considerarlo apropiación cultural puesto que soy latino. En mi brazo derecho tengo el Aegishjalmur y en mi brazo izquierdo el Vegvisir, ahora profundizare un poco mas.

The Helm of Awe
I wore before the sons of men

El yelmo del terror
Me puse ante los hijos de los hombres
En defensa de mi tesoro;

Also called the Helm of Terror, it is of Icelandic origin and was used as a protective symbol by Viking warriors painted on the forehead before the battle. Drawn between the eyes, it was granted the ability to make the wearer invincible and frighten his enemies.
This interpretation is confirmed by a spell called "There is a Simple Helm of Awe Working" in the collection of Icelandic folk tales compiled by the great Jón Árnason in the 19th century. The spell says:
Make a helm of awe in lead, press the lead sign between the eyebrows, and speak the formula:
Ægishjálm er ég ber
milli brúna mér!I bear the helm of awe
between my brows!Thus a man could meet his enemies and be sure of victory

The aegishjalmur reappears in neo-paganism in the form of a tattoo as a protective spell.
Tambien llamado el Yelmo del terror, es de origen islandes y eran usados como signo protector por los guerreros vikingos pintado en la frente antes de la batalla. Dibujado entre los ojos, se le otorgaba la capacidad de hacer invencible al portador y atemorizar a sus enemigos.
Esta interpretación se ve confirmada por un hechizo llamado “There is a Simple Helm of Awe Working” en la colección de cuentos populares islandeses recopilados por el gran Jón Árnason en el siglo XIX. El hechizo dice:
Haga un yelmo de asombro con plomo, presione el signo de plomo entre las cejas y diga la fórmula:
Ægishjálm er ég ber

Vegvisir. That Which Shows the Way/Aquello que muestra el camino

The vegvísir reappears in neopaganism in the form of a tattoo (although the existence of tattoos in the northern peoples prior to the entry of Christianity4 has not been proven), as a spiritual mystical symbol of help not to get distorted in the straight path to follow in the lifetime.
El vegvísir reaparece en el neopaganismo en forma de tatuaje (aunque no está demostrada la existencia de tatuajes en los pueblos del norte previa a la entrada del Cristianismo), como símbolo místico espiritual de ayuda para no torcerse en el camino recto a seguir en la vida.
