Hola a toda la comunidad, un hábito que el niño adquiere desde antes de nacer es el chupar dedo, es de forma institiva que el feto se lleva el dedo a la boca, para estimular la succión que luego utilizara para alimentarse.

Pero éste habito puede continuar en la niñez y parte de la adolescencia, y provoca desplazamiento de los dientes hacia vestibular, apiñamiento, paladar hondo, suelen ser respiradores bucales, poco desarrollo de los maxilares y por lo tanto un paciente que utilizará ortopedia y ortodoncia.

Para corregir este habito se utiliza aparatologia ortopédica, para erradicarlo, algunos tendrán tornillos de expansión en caso de paladar profundo y maxilares pequeños, dependiendo del caso se pueden corregir en el mismo aparato varias deficiencias.

El paciente con este hábito puede presentar: mordida abierta, vestibularizacion de los incisivos superiores, protrución de los inferiores, paladar profundo, mordida cruzada.
