Hello racers and blockchain fans — welcome aboard! Today, I’m excited to walk you through the Economy & Rewards system of Moon Karts™, a framework designed to balance skill, time, and community growth in a thriving play-to-earn ecosystem.
Earning in Moon Karts: The Big Picture
In Moon Karts, your earnings hinge on four pillars: skill, time invested, NFT quality, and the governance tokens (COLONY) you stake. Only players who excel (or at least make headway) across all these dimensions can unlock the top rewards.
How Rewards Are Allocated
The COLONY token supply for Moon Karts is distributed daily across multiple pools to reward different kinds of contributions. Here’s the breakdown:
40 % → Orbitals Pool
25 % → Ranking Pool
10 % → Tokens found directly on the racetrack
5 % → Referral Pool
20 % → Seasonal Rewards Pool
Each pool targets a unique behavior — racing performance, leaderboard standing, active participation, inviting others, or long-term consistency.
Deep Dive: Racing Rewards
There are three main paths to earn via racing:
Track-picked COLONY tokens — you have to finish the race still holding them and win.
Leaderboard ranking — your skill (measured via ELO) correlates with daily and seasonal rankings, which in turn unlock proportional COLONY shares.
Orbitals collection — in-race pickups lead to “Orbitals,” which have their own daily and seasonal leaderboards. The better your NFT setup (karts, drivers, parts), the more Orbitals you can gather.
The system is intentionally engineered so that high investments (in NFTs, in staked governance tokens) tend to yield higher returns — but only if backed by skill and consistent play.
The Referral Mechanism (Not Yet Live)
Moon Karts rewards ecosystem growth through a referral program. You’ll receive a unique invite code or URL. When someone signs up using it and spends at least USD 20 (or equivalent non-COLONY currency), that counts as one referral point. Subsequent every-$20 spending by the referred user gives additional points.
The Referral Pool (5 % of daily token allocation) is split proportionally among active referrers. But it’s capped: no single account can claim more than 0.5 % of the total rewards pool, or 10 % of the referral pool in one day. Unclaimed referral rewards roll forward to the next day.
Seasonal Rewards & Moon Domes
The Seasonal Rewards Pool accrues 20 % of tokens over a 10-day cycle. At the end, snapshots of leaderboard rankings determine how that pool is distributed. It encourages long-term engagement, not just daily spikes.
Looking ahead, Moon Karts plans to introduce Moon Domes — player-owned racetrack arenas. Owners will earn 10 % of every race’s tokens that occur in their dome.
