Hey there, racers and MoonKarts enthusiasts! Buckle up — today I’m diving into the secret weapons of MoonKarts: the Power-Ups. Whether you’re trying to dominate the field or dodge incoming attacks, these little cards can make or break your race.
What Are Power-Ups?
In MoonKarts, Power-Ups are special cards you equip in your racing kit. You acquire them through opening packs, then deploy them strategically during races to turn the tide in your favor.
At launch, there are six distinct power-ups, each with its own flair, mechanics, and ideal usage moment. Let me walk you through them as your resident kart strategist.
The Six Power-Ups
- Lunar Glide
Unleash a slippery hazard behind you. This one drops an oil slick in your wake, causing any following karts to lose control or spin out. Great for narrow passages or tight corners where escaping is difficult.
- Celestial Thrust
Need a burst of speed? Celestial Thrust rockets your kart forward with incredible velocity for a short duration. Use it on straight stretches to overtake rivals or close gaps. Timing and track knowledge make the difference here.
- Moonfire Missile
Lock on and fire! This power-up equips your kart with a rocket projectile that can target opponents and disable them. High risk, high reward. Precision aiming and timing are key to executing a clean shot.
- Cosmic Disruptor
An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) for karts—this emits a shockwave that temporarily throws nearby opponents off their game or slows them down. Best used when grouped around or in tight segments.
- Lunar Bolt
Here comes lightning from the moon! You select a target and a bolt descends, temporarily disabling that kart. Use it when someone’s pulling ahead or to disrupt a rival’s comeback.

- Lunar Barrier
Defense, not offense. This envelops your kart in a protective force field, making you immune to collisions and incoming attacks for a limited time. Perfect to activate when you foresee danger or need to maintain momentum.
Strategy Tips from the Pit Crew
Mix offense and defense: You don’t want to be all guns and no shield. A well-timed Lunar Barrier can save a lead built using Celestial Thrust or Moonfire Missile.
Know the track layout: For instance, reserve Lunar Glide for corners, use Celestial Thrust on long straights, and drop the Disruptor in chokepoints.
Watch for clusters: When multiple karts go through narrow zones, tools like Cosmic Disruptor or Lunar Bolt are more impactful.
