Our Quarantine World - My Transit in Air Experience

in GEMS4 years ago

Today marks my 1 week anniversary of flying out from Malaysia. Oh yes, last Saturday, 15th May 2021, I flew out from Malaysia at 8.40PM straight to Singapore and waited there for 12 hours before catching my next flight to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. My emotions was all over the place because I wasn't sure what to expect.

✈️ just isn't the same anymore. We're like soldiers lining up properly and following the Captain at the front. We move when they ask us to move and we stop when they ask us to stand. We even walk in 1 straight line from the transit lounge to the boarding gate - now this might only happen in Singapore 😆 I couldn't help but feel as if I was back in school!

This is one section of the transit lounge in Changi Airport, Singapore. Lounge chairs and long sofas are placed far apart from each giving everyone the much needed social distancing. Thanks to friends who have gone through this, I searched for this area so I find a lounge chair for myself. As you can there isn't many and if there's any vaunt ones, it's usually on high demand and fast to be occupied. Not the most comfortable lounge chairs but it's the best amongst all.

As sunrise came, I finally managed to enjoy the view outdoors. Don't think I've seen such an empty and quiet airport, especially when we're talking about Changi. Staring outdoors, I knew I'd better enjoy it as long as I can get since I'll be in quarantine for the next 21 days in a hotel room. And then after that another 7 days in my own home. Life has never been more different for me since April. I guess I should do a calendar at the end off the journey 😆
