You've really got a good angle to seeing it all. Yes undoubtedly, love remains the first universal language which can be loudly spoken without saying a single word. One of course, would wish such beautiful language is spoken by all, but as you've rightly said "Only known by the people who feel it".
And for Mathematics, I am of the opinion that the system can do more in instilling the love of it in the younger generation whom through the system are compelled to "speak" it but with little motivation on how to... I mean not to excuse them nor to justify their failure, but when I see mass failure amongst students, I sometimes question the success of the system that seemingly makes failure of success.
