One Michelin Star Hawker ⭐️ Every Bite Was Better Than Expected!

When I think of Michelin-starred restaurants, I think of a fancy one- formal, sparkly floors, and a bunch of butlers. ✨ I will never spend money on casual eating.

Hawker Chan originated in Singapore. A small stall serving simple dishes was started by a humble chef. In 2016, Chef’s special sauce paved the way in earning the titles, The World's First Hawker Michelin-starred Meal” and “The Cheapest Michelin-starred Meal In The World”. 🙌

Lunch time on a weekday. Not a lot of people. No lines, just me holding the menu, scanning it. I thought I wanted to eat a portion of everything. I chose a hawker platefulls. Am I hungry or just my eyes? 😆

I ordered Sweet and sour fish served with rice, stir-fry noodles, crackers, wonton soup, and a drink.

For an additional $2, I got another dish. I thought it was a good deal, so I ordered a soya sauce chicken (their pride dish). The total bill was around $7.

The restaurant was quite simple, with no red carpets or chandeliers. After all, this is the cheapest Michelin-starred resto.

I was served with my big plate (compared to what I used to) Uh- oh, did I order too much? Hehe. 😆 But I was so ready to eat, but first, I need to take a picture for the blog. 😆

The presentation was similar to the menu. I got the second dish, the soy sauce chicken, right away. Too much in one sitting, huh. Dig in! 😋

First was a sip of the wonton soup. Nothing special, but it was flavorful. A stem of bok choy and one dumpling.

The fish was seasoned to perfection! Tasty but not overpowering. 🙌 I can say that the batter was crispy and light. I got the balanced ratio of the meat and the batter. Crunchy and juicy! 👌

The soy sauce chicken had the mix of saltiness and sweetness - umaniness! 😋 I can smell a faint aroma and spice.

The meat was juicy and tender. Every bite was a dance in my mouth! 😍

The stir-fry noodles were springy and just cooked to the right firmness. Every node strand was coated with a savory sauce with a hint of smokiness and a little bit of sweetness.

The vegetables were crunchy, the perfect pair for the noodles. It was delicious and I found myself wishing for more of it. 😜

The perfect way to end the meal is the sesame balls. Glistening and golden with toasted sesame seeds. It was warm, soft, and chewy. The filling was smooth and nutty, fragrant. Not too sweet and not too greasy. 😋

Altogether, the plate was full of charm. They disappeared too fast! By the end, I was stuffed and happy. Truly a Michelin star experience! 😀
