Looking for the best image for your blog? Important orientation for new HIVE users - Part One

in GEMS4 years ago (edited)

I bring a support publication for all those new users - and not so new- who come to life on this platform, we often need to use images to illustrate our posts, to give them more life, not just words. Some users only use their own images, and that's great, but there are those who don't have a good camera for that purpose or can't have the specific object or environment that serves for our publications at hand, this is where we use images from the web for that purpose.

But, there is something important to highlight here and it is what is known as Copyright, we cannot simply use any image, much less without placing fonts, because it could even bring us legal problems in some cases. So, what do you do?

The answer to that question is as follows.

Previously I wrote the words "Derecho de Autor " or copyright (in English), is something that must be borne in mind when writing or using a paragraph or image of some site, because if you do not place the source where you have obtained can be in serious error, plagiarism, so let's define:

"Copyright is an established legal term that describes and determines the rights that creators or authors have over their literary or artistic works, products and services, both cultural, technological and commercial. " Source

It is explicit in the previous definition, rights that creators or authors have over their works, at the moment that the placement of the source from where you have obtained certain content is omitted they are incurring in a serious fault, since the effort that someone has made to create is not recognized.

In order to visualize it better, imagine that you make a post, invest a lot of time in its elaboration and publish it, but in spite of that you don't get a good visualization and you barely get a few cents of dollar as benefit, to the days someone copies it and publishes it in another platform, and this one gets a few dollars of profit, and by no side it appears his name, of the creator... How about that? Would you mind? Presumably the answer from most people will be yes.

There is another aspect to the use of images, it is not only about placing the fonts. Making a little bit of history, this new century has been one of a technological push as never before, this has led to the proliferation of websites (blog, networks, among other options) has multiplied in an impressive way.

It is logical to think that a new legal framework had to be established that had some applicability on the Internet, and in 2001 a new term was created, starting from what existed which was Copyright, Creative Commons licenses was created, we can define it as follows:

"Creative Commons is an organization that allows people to publish their creative works under a license that allows more flexibility than the "all rights reserved" that comes by default in copyright laws. " Source

In other words, that flexibility was the change, the detail that was varied, and allows other people to make use of the production of others without incurring legal problems. Since these having this kind of flexible copyright allows its use in different ways. It has its variations, its nuances, there are at least three types of Creative Commons Licenses, which we will not detail.

A detail to be taken into account is that when placing a work under this condition can not be revoked.

In the next publication I will bring you some image banks that you can use to get the best ones for your publications, and give that distinctive touch.

I hope this post has been useful and I have brought it with the intention of supporting you all. Knowledge is power, so they say, and ignorance of the laws does not exempt us from having to account to the corresponding entities. This platform condemns plagiarism with negative votes, which are very harmful to the accounts.

So the best way to avoid inconvenience is to educate ourselves.
