I made a video introducing people to HIVE, let me know what you think

in GEMS5 years ago

It was my intention to keep it simple and instructive to someone first learning about HIVE.

I didn't want to be too click bait-y, but earning is what differentiates HIVE from reddit, so I called the video 'Earning money on the social media blockchain, HIVE'

In it I walk the viewer through how to navigate communities, make posts, vote on posts, and explain how you earn money. I try to keep it realistic, I point out that it is unlikely that you will earn the large amounts posts that are trending make.

While I use hive.blog mostly I point out there are other options and give examples.

Well here's the video, I'd love any feed back, and if you do like it remember to give it a thumbs up, it could help it be viewed by more and get HIVE out there.

Sort:

I find it good, perhaps a bit long for not-yet-Hivers 👍

Fair point, but I like to go in dept. I do intend to cut a 30 clip from it, better to share on twitter

Some notes:

  • I'd love that "Hive logo + Reviewed" full screen in higher resolution :-)
  • videos are not uploaded to blockchain, such services like dtube or 3speak are using their own storage such as ipfs, etc. while the Hive post itself has only link to it. Same goes for images that are stored on third party servers.
  • When it comes to account creation, accounts on Hive are not free (even if you can get them for free sometimes), there's always a cost of account creation, currently it's 3 HIVE. Generally you also don't get free HIVE when you sign-up, some account providers might give you or delegate some amount in HP but by default new account is empty. It has however something called "adjustment" so even empty account can transact on Hive as if it had 3HP equivalent in Resource Credits.
tl;dr Every account takes its name forever and can use Hive resources forever (a little but still)

Anyway, nice video! :-)

oh I thought the 'open account cost' stayed with the account so it costs 3 hive but then the account has 3 hive.

Thanks for the feedback, it's a great help

Well, kind of, if there's a blockchain cost of new account set to 3 HIVE, then new account has "adjustment" equal to that, but it's not HIVE that account owns, it's Resource Credits equivalent (i.e. it's relevant to amount of actions you can perform, but doesn't affect voting power)
