Greetings guys, I'm back, today I want to share with you another of my creations that I make with much love for you. In the last publication I showed you the character of Rapunzel, that girl who had been kidnapped and put in captivity in a tower, now for this post we will design the person responsible for that fact, her Mother Gothel, a wicked woman who only wishes to stay young forever, using for that fact the hair of the young Rapunzel. Having said this, we will now explain step by step how I got the final result of the drawing. Without further ado, let's get started.
Saludos chicos, estoy de regreso, hoy les quiero compartir otras de mis creaciones que hago con mucho cariño para ustedes. En la publicación pasada les mostré al personaje de Rapunzel, esa chica que había sido raptada y puesta en cautiverio en una torre, ahora para este post diseñaremos al responsable de ese hecho, su Madre Gothel, una malvada mujer que lo único que desea es mantenrse joven para siempre, usando para tal hecho el cabello de la joven Rapunzel. Habiendo dicho esto, pasaremos a explicar el paso a paso de como obtuve el resultado final del dibujo. Sin más que decir empecemos.
Process / Proceso
Sketch / Boceto
We begin with the sketch, talking a little more in detail about this step, first I make a scheme of rods resembling the skeleton of the character, this helps me determine the proportions of the body, and position of it, for the head I draw a slight circle which divided by parts to position the eyes, mouth and nose, and finally with soft strokes I place the hair.
Empezamos con el boceto, hablando un poco más detalladamente sobre este paso, primero realizo un esquema de varillas asemejando el esqueleto del personaje, esto me ayuda a determinar las proporciones del cuerpo, y posición del mismo, para la cabeza dibujo un leve circulo el cual divido por partes para posicionar los ojos, boca y nariz, y finalmente con trazos suaves coloco el cabello.
Outlined / Delineado
We move now to the delineation, first I add a new layer, and in the layer of the sketch under the opacity to serve me as a guide, then I begin to make continuous and fluid strokes with the pencil brush modifying the pressure of the line, to obtain lines with different thickness.
Pasamos ahora al delineado, primero agrego una capa nueva, y en la capa del boceto bajo la opacidad para que me sirva como guía, luego empiezo a realizar trazos continuos y fluidos con el pincel lápiz modificando la presión del trazo, para obtener líneas con diferentes grosor.
Colour / Color
Stage of coloring, in this step to facilitate the application of color, divided the drawing into sections using different layers for each section, which are, skin, clothing, hair and some other accessory.
Etapa del coloreado, en este pasó para facilitar la aplicación del color, divido el dibujo en secciones usando capas diferentes para cada sección, las cuales son, piel, vestimenta, cabello y algún otro accesorio.
Shadows / Sombras
In the shading I proceed to take the color of the area where I am going to darken, under its brightness, I increase a little the saturation and with the help of the airbrush I apply these shades. Also in this step I take advantage of placing different textures to the drawing.
En el sombreado procedo a tomar el color de la zona donde voy a oscurecer, bajo su brillo, aumento un poco la saturación y con ayuda del pincel aerógrafo aplico dichas sombras. También en este paso aprovecho a colocar diferentes texturas al dibujo.
Lights / Luces
For the highlights, we use the same technique of shading, but this time increasing the brightness and lowering a little saturation of the color, then with the marker brush at low opacity, I apply small flashes of brightness, where I consider that the light reaches the character. A little bit on the hair, face, dress and I refine certain areas using the airbrush to create a soft gradient.
Para los brillos, usamos la misma técnica del sombreado, pero esta vez aumentando el brillo y bajando un poco saturación del color, luego con el pincel rotulador a baja opacidad, voy aplicando pequeños destellos de brillo, donde considero que la luz llega al personaje. Un poco en el cabello, rostro, vestido y afino ciertas zonas usando el pincel aerógrafo para crear un suave degradado.
Background / Fondo
In this case we designed a night background, making gradients from black to navy blue using the watercolor brush, then in another layer with whites and grays we applied subtle clouds and some stars.
En este caso diseñamos un fondo nocturno, haciendo degradados de negro a azul marino usando el pincel acuarela, luego en otra capa con blancos y grises aplicamos sutiles nubes y algunas estrellas.
Details / Detalles
To finish the drawing we added some details, we made a shining effect on the flower using the airbrush and we placed small lights around it.
Para finalizar el dibujo agregamos algunos detalles, realizamos un efecto resplandeciente en la flor usando el pincel aerógrafo y colocamos pequeños luceros alrededor de ella.
Materials / Materiales
The tools I used for the drawing were the following:
- Android tablet.
- Capacitive pen (Stylus).
- Ibis Paint X program.
- Brushes: Pencil, Airbrush, Watercolor, Marker.
Las herramientas que use para el dibujo fueron las siguientes:
- Tableta Android.
- Lápiz Capacitivo (Stylus).
- Programa Ibis Paint X.
- Pinceles: Lapiz, Aerografo, Acuarela, Rotulador.
