Mending a broken relationship

Hello, Everyone, today I had a discussion with one of my friends today, and while asking about her day, she told me that she fell out with a close friends of her and she felt bad about it and it did affect her mood for the entire day. tried my best

I gave her a few things that can help mend things up with the person:

Think out things from a different perspective outside your own.

  • Most times when an argument or a split happens in a relationship. We often tend to think we are right even though this might be the opposite. I advice we sit back and analyze the situation from different perspective to see whether we are wrong or not.

Putting ego down and apologizing when you're wrong

  • And at the point you discover you're wrong, do well to put your ego down and out rightly apologize. As most times our ego comes in the way of helping to restore broken relationships. And this doesn't help in making things right for both ourselves or the other person.

Take that step to repair things with the other person

  • At the point where you discover you're not at fault, this doesn't mean you should just ghost the other and build resentment for the person. I have realized that when we have a fall out with friends and people they might result from a point of we having different value systems and beliefs . What I do is to approach that person and restart the conversation.

You can begin with "Hey Buddy! I know we had a fall out yesterday, would you mind we discussing this over a drink.

At the point of having this conversation there are a few things to note:

  • Choose a location you're both comfortable with.
  • Don't put your own personal beliefs and opinions at this point, its not all about you, but you trying to get a common ground to settle the dispute.

These are the steps I take to settle disputes that I encounter or have with friends. And they might also go a long way in helping you repair relationships also.
