Llevé unas uvas a casa,
para ponerlas en la ensalada,
en un plato las dejé ubicadas
y me senté para apreciarlas.
Una de las uvas tenía ojos negros
y se desprendió del tallo sin misterio
quería estar en un lugar más excelso
y fue subiendo con esfuerzo.
I brought some grapes home,
to put them in the salad,
I left them on a plate
and sat down to appreciate them.
One of the grapes had black eyes
and fell off the stem without mystery.
It wanted to be in a more exalted place
and climbed up with effort.
Subió, subió y subió
hasta una zona alta llegó,
ahí se desplomó
y de nuevo abajo terminó.
La uva no se rindió
y de nuevo a subir empezó,
muchas otras veces se cayó

Me animé a ayudarla
y tomé un palo de contextura delgada

y la dejé en la zona más alta.
Ahí ella feliz se sintió
y en ese lugar a vivir se quedó,
el tiempo pasó
y en una uva pasa se convirtió.
I decided to help her
and took a thin stick.
With it, I gently picked her up
and placed her in the highest spot.
There she felt happy
and stayed to live in that place.
Time passed
and she turned into a raisin.
