Hello Hiveians
Necessity made me design this, the weather is getting hotter and I needed simple free tops that I can wear, though there were no simple stretchy and light fabrics at home, I decided to use the satin available
The color wasn't a problem, though orange is not my favorite, everyone loved the finished under wear because of the orange, so I followed everyone in loving it 😊
Now you may also have your choice taste and color for fabrics and wouldn't probably want a too bright color for an undergarments but this can be worn in freely in the house, making it into a dress will probably be the best as well
So today am showing us a very simple illustration on how you can make a diy simple design for a camisole
If at all you have never done anything in fashion before you can try your hands on this and it will be just right.
To make this you need the following measurements
- Armhole depth 6inches
- Front Chest circumference 12inches for me
- Shoulder to bust 10inches
- bust circumference
- Waist circumference 28inches
- Shoulder to waist 14inches
- Desired length.
If at all taking these measurements will be a problem you may want a tailor to help you with it or even explain better.
Shoulder bust is a measurement from your shoulder line down to the tip of the nipple with a brassiere on though.
While shoulder to waist is from shoulder to about 2inches above the naval, some can take that measurements at the naval area, it all depends.
Front chest is a measurement across the arm of the front bodice from one over the two bust.
This is how I marked out the vertical measurements
Armhole depth of 8 instead of 6, a mistake I made that had the armpit a little revealing. 7.5 or is used for normal cloth making while 6 is used for this kind of design since its sleeveless and we don't want the armpit revealed.
1inches used to shapen the the full length so as not to have a straight cut here.
Next I measured the horizontal lines
Bust 34÷4 = 8.5
Waist 28÷4= 7
Chest 12÷2= 6
This was marked at there corresponding vertical line locations
I connected all lines together as seen above, cut out the linings same way because I used a satin fabric I needed something to turn it in.
Stitctched and yet to iron though 😂
Now let me see how you make yours, you may also want to use smaller chest circumference based on design and don't repeat the same armhole mistake I did 😁
You can also add 0.5inch allowance all through for ease.
Don't forget your seam allowance as you can see double lines on my pattern, the second is for seam 1inches all through
