Arenaria montana and Sciaridae

The montana arenaria is a very abundant flower in this area of ​​the country where I live, besides being very pretty and showy, it has a very pleasant aroma.

Something that draws attention and that is curious is how this flower always attracts this species of insects called Sciaridae, it is a family of flies that is commonly found in humid environments.

These flies remained there for several minutes traveling the surface of the flower, approaching the center to ingest a little nectar from the flower, the elongated pistils of the beautiful flower do not seem to bother them at all, as a curious fact these insects (Sciaridae) are often found in fossilized amber deposits.

Lately I like to mount my publications combining black and white and color images, to see the differences and details that they contribute.

Finally I decided to edit this image giving it a personal touch with a soft edition darkening the outline of the flower to make the flower more striking.
