The moment you think of an Indian railways station, the first impression that comes into our mind is quite chaotic. The scene always scares me, especially about crowds hurrying to catch the train, people getting out of the train, their chitter chatter, people carrying luggages, dustbins, snacks stores, everything that made the place full of hustle bustle.
My first visit to the place changed my perception. There are some other things we can experience at a railway station. Recently, I made it to one of the busiest railway station of New Delhi and found a completelly different set up. There were proper security checks, proper crowd management by the police personals and some engineering marvels.
Seems the place has been revamped recently. It was very spacious, well managed very clean and above all people seems to be enjoying the place. The glass terrace, spraying cool sunlights in differrnt shades. Making it a cool atmosphere. While there were few food kiosks, people were still busy in their chit chats.
What attracted my attention was the little tableu placed at one corner of the station. The hidden message behind this tableu, placed right at the entrance made me thought over it. Skill will Zeal. Infact it was the message delivered by our Prime Minister which was displayed at the railway station.
We moved ahead towards the railway platform. This is the boarding point on the train. The scene at the platform was an unexpected. It was exactly opposite the way, I thought of. There were not much rush. It was an entire stretch, there were few people while others are waiting for passengers to arrive. The porters were desperstelly looking at the luggage for you so they can earn well. Even the railway tracks bear a deserted look.
The scene at the platform suddenly changed once the train arrived and it becomes too crowded forcing me to head over to the over bridge.
It was a wonderful experience visiting the railway station for the first time. Experiencing the commotion and some chaotic atmosphere. It will remain with me for a long time.
