Timphan cake for a free time snack.

Greetings to all of you. May we all be healthy and happy today. Here I want to share the recipe and how to make timphan cake in my family.

Talking about snacks, timphan cake is one of the most popular Aceh dishes. The taste is delicious and legit makes it always sought after. Timphan is commonly found in coffee shops. Timpan is often enjoyed with bitter black coffee. Have you ever tried it?

To make timphan the ingredients we use for the dough:

  1. 1/2 kilograms glutinous rice flour (we use turmeric to color it)
  2. 5 or 6 very ripe plantains
  3. half a spoon of salt

Skin, to wrap the timphan dough.

  1. Young banana leaves/shoots
  2. Oil

Timphan cake filling ingredients:

  1. 1 grain of grated coconut
  2. 1/2 ounce sugar
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Water

How to make it, mash a banana, add salt. After that, add the glutinous rice flour little by little. Stir until really chewy. If the flour is not kneaded until it is completely chewy, the timphan will become tough and unpleasant.

In general, flour is white, to beautify the color of flour we add turmeric when it is ground. Because we make our own glutinous rice flour by pounding glutinous rice. The difference in color will make it easier for us to distinguish between rice flour and glutinous rice flour. The dough made with glutinous rice flour will look beautiful with a yellow color.

Next to make the timphan stuffing. Add grated coconut, water, sugar and salt. Then cook the dough while stirring until the dough is dry and sticky. I divided the stuffing dough into two. One part I add pandan paste. Because I like the taste of panda, and also the smell.

The next stage is the manufacturing process. Prepare the leaves, then put a little oil in the middle of the leaves then take a little dough and flatten it, finally add the coconut filling and fold it. Smooth the folds of the dough so that the candied coconut doesn't come out, then wrap and fold the wrapper neatly.

Usually the process of making dough and kneading the dough is done by my mother. I'm just helping in the manufacturing process. Because the manufacturing process takes a long time and requires patience. If we make timphan carelessly, during the boiling process the timphan stuffing will come out and the timphan model will not be attractive.

The next stage is steaming. After everything is ready to be made, put it in the steaming pot. Steam the timphan cake for about 45 minutes until the leaves shrivel.

Our habit, we always make timphan at night. Because the timphan cake is not good to eat in hot conditions. If you want to eat it hot, it will be difficult to open because it is sticky. That's why we always make it at night so we can eat it the next day.
