Después de varios años de recibir recomendaciones sobre él y tenerlo agarrando polvo en mi biblioteca, por fin me propuse comenzar este famoso libro.
Se trata de una complicación de anécdotas, fábulas, parábolas y reflexiones sobre el liderazgo, hecho por Jaime Lopera Gutiérrez y Marta Inés Bernal Trujillo.
Es un libro muy reconocido y del cual se han vendido miles de copias. Además, según tengo entendido, estos autores ya han publicado otros seis libros con una temática similar.
Aproveché que tenía muchas ganas de leer un nuevo libro, y que tenía tiempo libre, para decidirme a empezarlo.
La verdad es un libro muy fácil y rápido de leer, y considero que está adaptado a cualquier edad (quiero decir, se puede leer desde la adolescencia).
After several years of receiving recommendations about it and having it gathering dust in my library, I finally set out to start this famous book.
It is a complication of anecdotes, fables, parables and reflections on leadership, made by Jaime Lopera Gutiérrez and Marta Inés Bernal Trujillo.
It is a very well known book and has sold thousands of copies. In addition, as I understand it, these authors have already published six other books with a similar theme.
I took advantage of the fact that I really wanted to read a new book, and that I had some free time, to decide to start it.
The truth is a very easy and quick book to read, and I consider that it is adapted to any age (I mean, it can be read from adolescence).
Si les llama la atención su título, pues los autores explican en las primeras páginas que este representa algo que comúnmente hacemos: desentendernos de la responsabilidad.
En ocasiones en nuestras vidas ocurren ciertos eventos y muchas veces podemos quedarnos sentados solo esperando encontrar al culpable, sin darnos cuenta que quizás nosotros causamos esa situación de algún modo. De cualquier forma, no solo es importante asumir la responsabilidad cuando la tenemos, sino comenzar a actuar pronto para salir de esa situación y posicionarnos en una mejor, en lugar de solo buscar al causante, lo que no nos llevará a ningún lado.
Los autores nos explican que a veces podemos ser capaces hasta de culpar a un animal, como una vaca, con tal de no hacernos cargo de nuestros propios errores y repararlos.
If you are struck by its title, the authors explain in the first few pages that it represents something we commonly do: disengage responsibility.
Sometimes in our lives certain events occur and many times we can sit around just waiting for the culprit, without realizing that maybe we caused that situation in some way. In any case, it is not only important to assume responsibility when we have it, but to start acting soon to get out of that situation and position ourselves in a better one, instead of just looking for the culprit, which will get us nowhere.
The authors explain that sometimes we may even be able to blame an animal, such as a cow, in order not to take responsibility for our own mistakes and repair them.
Debo admitir que no fue el libro que esperaba, y quizás por eso me demoré tanto en leerlo, porque pensé que sería de esos típicos libros de motivación que te dejan los mensajes típicos y a veces hasta más confundido que cuando empezaste.
Pero al ser un libro que presenta sus mensajes de forma tan didáctica y personal, ayuda a que podamos sentirnos identificados más fácilmente con las historias y podamos reflexionar mejor sobre ello y buscar cómo empezar a llevar a cabo esos cambios en nosotros mismos.
I must admit that it wasn't the book I was expecting, and maybe that's why I took so long to read it, because I thought it would be one of those typical motivational books that leave you with the typical messages and sometimes even more confused than when you started.
But being a book that presents its messages in such a didactic and personal way, it helps us to be able to identify more easily with the stories and we can better reflect on it and look for how to start making those changes in ourselves.
Son muchas las historias que componen el libro, sin embargo me llevo las siguientes reflexiones:
- A veces la vida nos golpea de muchas y diferentes maneras y puede ser más fácil desistir ante estás adversidades que seguir luchando. Sin embargo, siempre hay luz al final del túnel y si trabajamos por lo que queremos con mucho esfuerzo, nos llegarán muchas cosas buenas.
There are many stories that make up the book, however I take away the following reflections:
- Sometimes life hits us in many different ways and it can be easier to give up in the face of these adversities than to keep fighting. However, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and if we work hard for what we want, many good things will come our way.
- El momento para actuar es ahora. Si queremos algo, no podemos esperar a que nos caiga del cielo. No podemos comenzar a vivir "cuando la pandemia se termine", "cuando la situación de mi país mejore", etc. Tenemos que perseguir nuestros sueños ahora, porque si nos detenemos por los eventos inesperados o incontrolables, no vamos a empezar nunca.
- The time to act is now. If we want something, we can't wait for it to fall out of the sky. We can't start living "when the pandemic is over", "when the situation in my country improves", etc. We have to pursue our dreams now, because if we are stopped by unexpected or uncontrollable events, we will never get started.
- Como dicen por allí: siempre hablarán de ti, ya sean cosas buenas o cosas malas. Algunas personas, con intención o no, pueden desanimarnos con un simple comentario. Lo importante es intentar no decaer ante estos críticos que no aportan nada positivo para que mejoremos. Creamos en nosotros mismos y "a palabras necias, oídos sordos".
- As they say over there: they will always talk about you, whether it's good things or bad things. Some people, intentionally or not, can discourage us with a simple comment. The important thing is to try not to lose heart in the face of these critics who do not contribute anything positive for us to improve. Let us believe in ourselves and "to foolish words, deaf ears".
- Todos podemos tener malos días, lo importante es no descargar esos sentimientos negativos con quienes no lo merecen, y aunque recibamos de otros injustamente el producto de esos sentimientos, podemos cortar esa cadena de agresión con una reacción distinta y positiva.
- We can all have bad days, the important thing is not to take those negative feelings out on those who don't deserve it, and even if we receive from others unjustly the product of those feelings, we can cut that chain of aggression with a different and positive reaction.
