Introducing myself

My name is Robin. I'm English but five years ago I moved with my friend Katja to a small farm in rural Portugal. There were only neglected old farm buildings and olive trees on the land when we arrived but we have worked hard to make it a comfortable, livable place.
We have three rescued dogs and one cat. We also took in three old sheep, though one turned out to be pregnant, so we now have four.
We are totally off-grid...our power is solar, irrigation water from wells, and drinking water from the village font.
It's a quiet place, on the edge of a small village, but only 15 minutes drive from the city, so we are in a great spot.
I mean to post events from our daily life, fixing and making things, looking after the animals and plants, and our new project...creating a forest on our land.

I must thank @santigs for introducing me to hive!

Welcome to Hive Robin. Can't wait to read your posts about life in your land.

Thanks very much

Welcome!! Nice to meet more adventurers around!

Welcome to hive Robin. It's nice to have you here and since you plan on posting about fixing and making things, there's DIY Hub as well as Homesteading which seem to be one of your interest. They both are great community and hopefully you can find audience and friends from there.

And when you have extra time, you can check out these information point : For tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here: newbie guide. I'd like to also mention that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms out there. On Hive, conventionally, you can't include content that you don't own without sources. For more information, check this post: Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise. Not to mention, overall plagiarized content is bad for your credibility and visibility too.

If you have questions or concerns, you can hop into OCD's Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions.

welcome to Hive dear Robin. Sounds lovely where you stay,

I like the off-grid idea and saw a similar thing years back in Australia.

You might find more people who enjoy an off-grid life if you search a bit.

I think off-grid and a de-centralised platform goes well together :)

Yes it does!

Welcome aboard!

There are quite a few folks in Portugal doing similar things. One of them that comes to mind is @revisesociology

Yes, you are right. It seems to be a popular area for off-grid or semi off- gridders!
