Bueno hoy quiero contarles sobre uno de nuestro paciente estrellas de esta pasantía actualmente estoy rotando por Traumatología y Ortopedia la cual se acaba mañana, por cierto. Esta rotación me ha encantado, aunque es solo un día a la semana hemos aprendido lo necesario para identificar ciertas patologías en los niños.

Esta es una enfermedad congénita que se ha de notar desde el nacimiento y es una deformidad del pie, que si se trata a tiempo el paciente puede tener una marcha con mayor facilidad y apoyo.
This is a congenital disease that has to be noticed from birth and is a foot deformity, which if treated in time the patient can have a gait with greater ease and support.
El tratamiento se llama método PONSETI que consiste en colocar 5 yesos semanales y luego se hace un corte del tendón de Aquiles para alargarlo. Por aquí les dejare una foto de mi compañero en el proceso, cabe destacar que estos yesos los coloca el especialista el cual debe estar entrenado para la colocación del mismo.
The treatment is called PONSETI method which consists of placing 5 weekly casts and then a cut of the Achilles tendon is made to lengthen it. Los niños deben usar botas ortopédicas hasta casi los 5 años, esto dependerá de cómo responda cada uno y desde cuando se comenzó a realizar el tratamiento a menor edad del paciente mejor es el pronóstico.
Children should wear orthopedic boots until they are almost 5 years old, this will depend on how each one responds and from when the treatment was started, the younger the patient is, the better the prognosis.
Todas las fotos están autorizadas por la madre de mi paciente. El cada vez nos sorprende más con su vestuario y ya somos sus padrinos adoptivos pues lo conocemos desde su nacimiento porque casualidad cuando lo conocimos estábamos por la pasantía de maternidad.
