Finaly I have my hotwire table back. As soon as I have my hands on the machine I start immediately ^^ Its so much easier to cut the foam with hotwire. I can easily set the fence to a spesific mesurement and cut exactly the same piece over and over again. This is really important because these are modular dungeon tiles, they have to be same size. otherwise there will be gaps.
Dungeon tiles are 3x3 and 2,5cm each square. so overall dimensions are 7,5cm x 7,5cm . I cut the main tiles in half to make the stairs. its extremely difficult to cut the foam vertically with a knife. I watch lots of tutorials about xps foam builds. The technique to do the square lines are pretty straightforward. I adjusted the fence to 2.5cm and make a line with the hotwire. Rotating the foam gives me perfect 3x3 grid. I worked on this 4 hours~
Materials used:
Hotwire Table ( cutting )
Hotglue ( gluing pieces together )
aluminium foil ( to make rock texture by pressing on the foam )
Xacto knife ( for small details )
This will be painted later. I will make some columns and arches as well. See you next time.
Good job! I would like to see it painted. What colours are you going to use?
its going to be gray @toobuy But think gray stones are a little bit boring. I dont have much experience on painting XPS foam. I need to buy more paint to experiment different colors. Right now I am painting them dark gray. I'll post an update for the dungeon tiles but here is a sneak peak.
