Hola amigos, con la llegada del mes de octubre, se inician las campañas de tócate en Venezuela, para prevenir el cáncer de mamas. Cada 19 de octubre se celebra en el mundo el Día Internacional del Cáncer de Mama, una fecha para sensibilizar y concienciar a las personas de todo el mundo, sobre la importancia de realizarse un examen de mamas regularmente, con la finalidad de detectar cualquier signo o anomalía en los senos de la mujer.

Este año no debería ser la excepción a pesar de la pandemia, el cáncer de mama es un tipo de cáncer que si detecta a tiempo puede ser curado.

Muchas mujeres venezolanas, hoy tienen un gran dilema, cubrir el costo de una mamografía la cual supera el ingreso mensual diez veces o quizás más.

El estado debería garantizar este tipo de exámenes totalmente gratis, pero la realidad no es así, para solicitar una cita para una mamografía debes de madrugar, exponiéndote a los peligros de la noche, para ver si corres con la suerte de obtener una número, dicho número es solo para un chequeo superficial, el cual lo realiza un médico, luego se te dará una cita, si corres con suerte puedes esperar algunos dos o tres meses. Rogando que cuando te toque la máquina de realizar la mamografía este buena.

Este año debí realizarme la mamografía durante el mes de Abril o Mayo, pero corrí con la mala suerte que la empresa en la cual trabajo, no me cubre el seguro para el pago de la misma. Así que decidí esperar para ahorrar y hacerme la mamografía en una clínica privada. Han pasado algunos meses, y no lo van a creer pero se me ha hecho imposible ahorrar para cubrir este estudio. Con la llegada del mes de octubre, vuelve mi preocupación, ya que este año está en su último trimestre y no he logrado realizar este estudio tan importante para mí, ya que presento quistes mamarios y por lo tanto debo de estar muy alerta.

This year I had to undergo a mammogram during the month of April or May, but I was unlucky that the company I work for does not cover my insurance for the payment of the same. So I decided to wait to save up and get a mammogram at a private clinic. A few months have passed, and you will not believe it but I have been unable to save money to cover this study. With the arrival of the month of October, my concern returns, since this year is in its last trimester and I have not been able to carry out this study, which is so important to me, since I present breast cysts and therefore I must be very alert.

Mientras sigo con la esperanza de ahorrar el dinero para mi mamografía y buscando otra opción, no me queda de otra de continuar realizándome mis chequeos rutinarios desde casa, tocándome y observando muy detenidamente el color de mis pezones.
Invito a todas las mujeres mayores de 45 años a realizarte tú misma una evaluación de los senos, para ver si encuentras algún bulto en el seno o alguna decoloración o enrojecimiento extraño. También debes acudir al ginecólogo para que te realice una mamografía o ecografía de mama. Por supuesto tomando las precauciones necesarias, tales como: Llevar una bata quirúrgica preferiblemente, si es posible llevar alcohol o cloro en un frasco para desinfectar el mamografo, y si está en su alcance llevarle un par de guantes a la persona que se encargara de realizar el estudio.

While I am still hoping to save the money for my mammogram and looking for another option, I have no choice but to continue doing my routine checkups at home, touching myself and observing the color of my nipples very carefully.

I invite all women over 45 to perform a breast evaluation yourself, to see if you find any lump in the breast or any strange discoloration or redness. You should also go to the gynecologist for a mammogram or breast ultrasound.
