ENDSARS IN NIGERIA PROTEST CONTINUES

in GEMS3 years ago

Last year October was when the protest of ENDSARS in Nigeria began which went on a pause in November Ending. If you don't know what the Endsars protests is about, it is about the youths fighting against police brutality in Nigeria. At least, that's what it was at first in the beginning but it has gone more towards fighting for a change in the Country.

Last year during the course of the protest, peaceful protesters were shot and murdered in cold blood by the Nigerian army at the lekki toll gate. Before performing this evil act, the army removed all street cameras and put off all street lights. Then after that, they denied doing the act after taking a lot of lives that day even with the live video taken by the protesters.

The government had made a promise that the killings at the toll gate would be investigated and the toll gate would be closed. The most unbelievable thing is that the president of Nigeria kept mute and didn't address to the citizens even after the killing until international pressure came in.

Even during the address, the president didn't mention anything about the killings nor fulfilling the demands of the youths and only said the youths should stop disturbing the peace of the nation.

Fast forward to the real news of the day, the lekki toll gate is opening again without rooting out those who are behind giving others to the army to shoot peaceful protesters. So, because of this the youths are beginning to protest again and this time the police are arresting protesters and marching around the toll gate fully armed.

Tomorrow a protest would begin tomorrow at the toll gate, I only hope things won't go wrong and the police release the peaceful protesters that was arrested today.

I am so sorry for the inhumane behavior you guys are facing.
Honestly, it pains me. There is no life of a common man living in a developing country. I pray that things will turn better in near future.
We will be fine 💮

I believe everything would become fine as well. It takes time 😊

This is really sad. Ever since the first #Endsars protest, I had mixed feelings about both the rights of the citizens and the capabilities of the government. It's really tiring to see that the masses are being tortured for standing against injustice. I only hope that we pass this phase and own everything we ought to.

I feel the only way to build something right is by destroying it to the ground and build it afresh. If we really want a change, we have to take power from the government or else the government would still be filled with injustice.

Good point there. I agree with you to an extent at least. Well, I pray it comes good

Thank you for sharing this, as the news I get is mostly through the internet and I suppose that major news companies don't highlight this news. So control of your own and your countrymen's narrative 👍

Stay safe!

Thanks very much. Really appreciate your comments
