Hello Hivers! Have you ever imagined having a long life? I mean, you have eternity, wounds and aches heal in minutes, and you can return to normal life, even though bullets pierce your brain? This kind of fantasy has led me to a very amazing film from Netflix. Check out my following review.
Toughness is still inherent in Theron, which I have seen in Atomic Blonde, Aeon Flux, and Mad Max: Fury Road. I immediately watched this film because she played it. In The Old Guard, the 44-year-old actress plays Andy, a leader of another three-member group, who completes dangerous missions in various parts of the world. Even though there are only four of them, this quartet is invincible.
This film tells the story of immortal humans, they dream of each other and recruit each other to form a team. It is not told how long Andy (Charlize Theron) has lived in this world, clearly, it has been a very long time. It could be thousands of years or tens of thousands of years.
In terms of settings, I think this movie still relies on a simple style, but the amazing appearance of Theron has impressed me. Netflix has advanced a lot after finishing films like Bright, 6 Underground, and The Old Guard, in my opinion. Occasionally we are shown in scenes from the past when Andy was considered a witch, even a god.
Carrying out missions in silence and erasing all their tracks is not easy, considering that this is an age with super-sophisticated technology. They are secluded from the world because they do not want the secrets of their lives to be revealed. But they don't know when the immortality they have can be lost, the mystery of the beginning of the story that still makes us curious about the power, where the source is, why they have it.
What they fear is getting caught, and it just happens. That is due to the help of former agent Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a scientist named Merrick (Harry Melling) who is obsessed with the power of the group led by Andy, they have tried to pursue them.
The Old Guard, in my opinion still has a fresh story, adapted from a comic with the same title, The Old Guard is able to make the audience amazed. Check out the trailer below:
