I told about my walk in the Catherinehof Park last Wednesday, and it occurred to me that it might be interesting to show how these places look in summer. Among my summer walks was one in this park. It was very fortunate that on the way I photographed some mushrooms, so I can not only talk about this walk and show summer photos, but also participate in the #fungifriday challenge.
But before I get to the mushroom hunt, I'll tell you a little bit about this park. It's a quiet place that rarely sees tourists. It's not customary to take tours here. Usually you'll only find locals lounging on benches, sunbathing on green lawns in the summer and skiing in the winter.
This historic landscape park was arranged in a very picturesque place in the early 18th century, soon after the founding of St. Petersburg. But it soon turned out that this picturesque area is too low, the ground is damp and suffers from floods. Several buildings and gazebos were built in this park, but the structures have not survived to this day.
Architectural views can be found only on the bank of the Ekateringofka River. These are views toward the island Volny, the Orthodox Church and the factory building.
In this place is arranged a small pier and a memorial sign. You can read a reminder of the events of the Northern War in 1703.
I walked along the bank of the Tarakanovka River and admired the trees. A small flock of ducks caught my attention. I walked closer to the water and noticed an old stump with several wood fungi growing on it.
Champignons were my next find. There were quite a few mushrooms growing on this lawn, although they can easily be overlooked if you don't look closely. From afar, the champignons looked like pebbles lying in the grass.
