It is a thing to have an idea; it is another thing to know how to start. There have been some ideas that are not that big but trending because the ideator did the right thing at the right time. Ideas come from so many ways. Could be front a readymade idea, from publications, random thoughts, or situations. I remember a guy that built an optical means to control computer because her sister was paralyzed. This concept later become well known because it solves some problems.
There are ideas on this chain that are copycat of another web 2 website but doing well because of the decentralization of the Blockchain. So, it doesn’t matter where ideas are picked from. What does matter are the things that the idea is used for, and the solution it provides.

Consume right
This is one of the important factors to get outstanding ideas. The information you read, community you belong, the things you believe, and how open-minded you are will determine the ideas that will be in your mind. It is important to feed in excellent information and surround yourself with relevant people. This is one reason we have the Gitplait community so we could collaborate, share good information that could build minds, and improve everyone in the community. We aim to build a community where people can consume good information to build their ideas.
Break your circles.
Taking selfies, sharing feeds, and doing all sort of social media activities is not enough. Engage in circles of community/people who are moved by learning new and exciting things. Meeting people of values and zealous to build the future. Ideas don’t come fully formed; it comes in a bit, but the ability to collate and used makes you an ideator.
Ask Questions
Asking questions has been working a lot. You can’t know everything so it important that you ask questions as you work with your ideas. This is one reason we have the #gitengage category to use on the gitplait community/project. This will allow other community members to share ideas as you build and you could get the best from answers given.
Ideas that solve problems
There must be a problem to solve with your idea. If your idea doesn’t solve a problem, then you may work and think of bringing a better idea to live. The Steem Hive blockchain solved an enormous problem for content creators and blogger. You must check the niche for your idea, and the right approach in getting people to understand the problem you want to solve. Classified the problems your idea (s) will solve before implementing.
