Introduction
Good day everyone, hope you are doing fine and well this lovely midweek. Today I would like to do a simple sharing on a dish that I like to eat and how me and my colleague chance upon this place.
A New Found Place For Lunch
It is not often that we are able to find new place for lunch because we tend to visit places that we are familiar and with proven good food as lunch is a time where we needed some time away from office while rewarding ourselves with good food.
So initially we wanted to have lunch at a hawker centre located near our office but unfortunately, the hawker centre was doing regular cleaning and no stalls were opened. And then we detoured and headed towards a coffeeshop which had the special Taiwanese styled western food which I featured previously. To the horror of me and my colleague, the carpark at the coffeeshop was doing massive painting works and there were loads of barricades and limited parking lots. This resulted in us having to park slightly further away and we chanced upon a new coffeeshop opposite of the one we wanted to visit, so my colleague asked, shall we take the plunge and try something new? I agreed and there we are, trying out a new coffeeshop to get our lunch.
Char Siu Lang
Similar to the coffeeshop that we wanted to visit, this coffeeshop also had quite a number of stalls and gave us loads of options to choose from. Like telekinesis linking both of us up, we both decided to give Char Siu Lang a shot.
The name of the shop Char Siu Lang, with my initial thought could have meant to be Char Siew People because Lang is people in the dialect Hokkien. But at the same time I saw the logo of the shop showing a wolf, it meant that the Lang is actually using the Chinese way of reading, where Lang is actually wolf.
For fellow Singaporeans whom wish to visit, here are the details of the place.

Now since the name goes as Char Siu Lang, it meant that they will be selling Char Siew or many referred to as Sweetened Roast Pork and other roasted meat. Both my colleague and I ordered the same dish, which is the Double Roast Meat (Char Siu/Siu Yok) rice or it can often referred to as Char Foh (叉火) rice in Cantonese.
And here's what we ordered
The presentation is very nice, both meats nicely placed on top of the rice with a few slices of cucumber. Instead of thick gravy that most other roast meat stalls offer, they come with some light sauces drizzled over the rice and meat, which I think is a very good move to prevent us from feeling to jelak (greasiness) from the meat itself.
Now let's talk about each of the meat. I will start off with Char Siu. Each pieces of Char Siu is caramelised to perfection and it is done by the oven within the stall, the pork had the perfect balance of char and melt-in-your-mouth fat. And it just made each bite so tender to the mouth.
Next I move on to Siu Yok, every piece had a crisp layer of crackling skin on that juicy piece of pork belly. The combination of the crispy skin and the juicy pork belly (that do not have any soft bones, many places have softbones but this stall removes the layer with the softbone) is a symphony to the mouth with a slight hint of saltiness of the marinated skin that is not overpowering at all.
Both meats are unique and perfectly done in their own way. And that's why the queue at the stall doesn't stop. While the shop does have its stated opening hours, there is a 2nd line below the opening hours stating that it is while stocks last. Meaning to say, going late is a risk as you seeing a closed shop because they have sold everything they have for the day.
Closing
It is not easy to find such good quality roast meat in the neighbourhood but we manage to find one together because of how we were led here due to cleaning and also painting. A great find and a place that we will definitely come back to support.
Not only that, this coffeeshop also have a number of other stalls that caught our eye just that roast meat always hold a secret place in my heart.
