"Like Father Like Daughter"
The day he told me that I wanted to study medicine, my student days were immediately reproduced in my mind.
When we are medical students, the clock can run for, against, or even sometimes gives the impression that it does not even run.
I remembered the guards in the hospital, day and night at the emergency door, attending to patients with practically no rest.
Perhaps there we will be in two of the three situations that I mentioned at the beginning: that the clock runs against or that it seems that time does not pass.
It could be argued that it is a curious mixture, because we are dedicated to what we love, but at a constant dizzying pace and with maximum self-demand without margin of error, because the title of doctor is nothing but this: a pleasant and at the same time hard responsibilit.
All of the above coupled with the fact that we live in Venezuela, a country in which health depends on a network of hospitals and clinics financed by the Venezuelan State or by private systems. Venezuela's health infrastructure has been deteriorating dramatically.
Public and private services are often overwhelmed.🤦♂️
Suddenly I put all my thoughts aside and said to my daughter, I am very proud that you want to follow in my footsteps.
And I asked him if he wanted to make sure, if his vocation is really to be a doctor, answering clearly yes.
The next day the
I took me to the hospital and witnessed a surgical intervention.
When we finished I was euphoric at that moment I was convinced of her vocation. 👩⚕️
We take the photo that is at the beginning of this post. And I repeated the slogan: "Study today as if you were going to live forever, live today as if you were going to die tomorrow." 👩🎓
«The word convinces, but the example drags. Don't worry because your children don't listen to you, they watch you all day. »
