My friend Akshay had shared some images on his Instagram stories of him enjoying the sunset at a riverside location.

The spot looked very peaceful and good for hanging out with friends and having some good chit chat.

I messaged him asking for the location and he asked me to look at his next story where he had shared an image of a clay pot which had the place name and address written on it.

The very same day I shared about this with my friends. @mrsahil99 and I planned to check out the place in the coming week and we went there after 3-4 days.

As soon as we reached the owners Abhijit and Yashwanth welcomed us with happy faces. They were quick to point out that they had only a liter of Kali/Toddy left and they suggested us that it's better if we visit some other day.

We were more interested in the place than the drink so we told them that we would just check out the view of the place and leave.

The place as you can see in the photo above was as beautiful as it could get. We asked him to get the Kali even if the quantity was less because we just wanted to taste it.

Kali (also known as Toddy) is an alcoholic beverage made by the fermentation of the flower sap from a coconut palm. It contains a small percentage of alcohol of around 4%.

The shelf life of Kali is only 24 hours so whatever you consume is freshly made. If you have ever tasted curd, it tastes and smells just like that.

As you can see, it is whitish in color and is served in clay pots. Due to the low alcohol content, you don't go tipsy/drunk on this unless you drink 2 to 3 liters of it.

Some people even say that drinking this in moderate quantity helps in staying healthy. After trying we were just admiring the environment surrounding us.

The whole area is a private land behind the owner's house. It is mostly filled with greenery on all the sides. There's natural grass everywhere, coconut trees and other plants.

Because of the Gurupura river flowing by, you also get fresh breeze caressing you as you enjoy the view.

Just as we were enjoying the view we saw a fisherman passing by on his boat and we waved at him. We got a wave back along with a wide grin.

We were there for several hours trying to soak in as much as we can the beauty of the place. As the sun started setting, the nearby Masjid started playing a beautiful azaan.

The azaan kind of completed the setting for me. Loved being there at that time witnessing the setting sun, enjoying the calm breeze along with soothing azaan.

It was one of the best and most pocket friendly experiences ever. You don't need lots of money to make you happy. Happiness is present in the small things in life.
