African print like Ankara is all the wave right now and come to think of it, it's always being the rave even outside Africa. Our mothers have always been adorned in the popular Ankara fabric that comes in different prints. You can make literally any outfit with Ankara fabric and you have more than enough choices to pick.

I found this beautiful print some months ago for cheaps and I got it even when I had no idea what I was going to do with it. I then decided to make a free sized dress popularly known as Bubu dress for my mum. It's a simple and easy to make dress because you don't need to cut out the sleeves separately.

I first marked out her measurements on the fabric and drafted out the dress pattern

The pattern was cut out

The front and back neckline of the dress was also cut out

I made a facing for the neckline to get a neat finish

All the side seams and hem were joined

It looks good on me, I might just make one for myself. Can't wait to give my mum.
