Hello Hive!

#WhoAreTheyPhilippines already made a special edition post to raise funds to be donated to a reputable institution that would help the affected communities that are devastated by super typhoons Goni and Vamco. This post is meant to augment the amount that would be accumulated by that post. I will send to @whoaretheyph 100% of the reward of this post, including the equivalent HP. That's why I'll use reward.app for this post. I already sent my contribution to @whoaretheyph earlier.

It was already eloquently stated by @whoaretheyph's post that whatever amount is gathered will be donated to one of the charities helping the victims of those storms. We discussed which institution would it be and we are eyeing for the Philippine Red Cross. We discussed this in person last Sunday and I promised to make a complimentary post after @whoaretheyph. I don't want this to be another post asking for help. Instead, I want the international community to know what's happening here in the country. I hope this will reach far and wide in Hive, so I would really appreciate it if you'll reblog this post.

WE ARE IN A CLIMATE CRISIS
It's Unfair: The Country that's One with Lowest Carbon Emissions is the Most Affected by Increasing Frequency of Super Typhoons in the Recent Years

The Philippines has experienced eight (8) tropical storms in just two months! Five (5) of which occurred in the last three weeks alone. Two of which are equivalent to Category 5 and 4 which are Super Typhoon Rolly (Goni) and Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco). Super Typhoon Goni is the strongest typhoon in the world for 2020 which devastated major parts of Luzon, mainly the island of Catanduanes where the typhoon first made landfall.

Typhoon Vamco, on the other hand, came just two weeks after Super Typhoon Goni and caused massive flooding to the provinces of Isabela, Pampanga, and Cagayan. Marikina in NCR is also heavily affected by flooding due to the swelling of Marikina River. Isabela and Cagayan are heavily affected by the swelling of Cagayan River due to continuous release of water from Magat Dam. The continuous rainfall brought by those storms causes flooding up to the roofs of people's houses.

I was devastated by a video posted on Twitter last week. It's just pitch black in the middle of the night because there was electricity, but you can hear the shouts of the people from the top of their houses and they're begging to be rescued. Rescue efforts became difficult at night because of zero visibility.

It's unfair. Life's unfair. The poorest of the poor are the most vulnerable in these cases and often they're neglected in crafting policies and treaties especially when it comes to concerns regarding climate change and other environmental issues. In cases like this, usually, the international community immediately rally and send help, but due to the pandemic, it became more difficult to send help as countries are also battling the virus on their own. Economies are also crippled by the onset of the pandemic.

That's why I'm turning to the Hive community for any kind of help that doesn't require you to physically exert effort to aid those who are badly affected by the storms. If you want to contribute HIVE or HBD, please send them directly to @whoaretheyph. Upvoting this post and @whoaretheyph's post will also help in accumulating the amount to be donated. If your upvote is not that substantial, reblogging will reach more people and hopefully, they can help. People in the affected areas are in dire need of aid.

To those who already sent their contributions to @whoaretheyph, upvoted, and expressed their solidarity and support, you have my sincerest gratitude! Thank you very much! I wish and hope for your success in whatever endeavour you are in. Please know that the universe has a way of giving back many times over what you have put out there.

Extending your upvote goes a long way! Thank you so much!

P.S. I'm just sharing here tweets of people and institutions I trust. You can always verify if you're in doubt. News outlets have countless coverage about what happened in the past weeks.

We really need to do about this Climate Crisis. This is not just an advocacy for the environmentalists but for everyone.

Yes! Sadly, we are not acting fast.

Nature does not divide people into rich and poor. For her, there is just a mass of people who together do the wrong things in relation to mother earth.
Of course, if this is not the result of the impact of climate weapons.
Protecting the wealthy and powerful in the form of autonomous yachts, underground bunkers, and spaceships ... is a cheap illusion. Although no, it costs them dear.

Beautiful place bro👍

I hope you meant to use humor for uplifting the mood a bit
