Today I return to a topic that is of utmost importance, as is the security of your account. In recent times we have seen how many users have lost access to their accounts and therefore everything they could have accumulated in Hive, Hive Power and HBD, sadly seeing months and even years of effort lost. To understand how these thefts occur and how to avoid them, I invite you to read Hive account theft or hacking.
There I explain that there are two tools that will help you protect your account. The first one I already published Understanding Hivesigner - Security Guide. And the other tool I mention there is Hive Keychain, which is the one I'm going to explain today in this post.
Hoy vuelvo a tocar un tema que es de suma importancia, como lo es la seguridad de tu cuenta. En tiempos recientes hemos podido ver como muchos usuarios han perdido el acceso a sus cuentas y por ende todo lo que hubieran podido acumular en Hive, Hive Power y HBD, viendo con tristeza perderse meses y hasta años de esfuerzo. Para que entiendas bien cómo se producen estos robos y cómo evitarlos, te invito a leer El robo de tu cuenta o "hackeo" en Hive.
Allí explico que hay dos herramientas que te van a ayudar a proteger tu cuenta. De la primera ya hice la publicación Entendiendo Hivesigner - Guía de seguridad. Y la otra herramienta que menciono allí es Hive Keychain (traducido al español como "Llavero de Hive"), que es la que voy a explicar hoy en este post.
What is this Keychain? || ¡Qué es esta Keychain
Although in the above post I refer to Hive Keychain as a key manager, on the download page the definition that appears is "Secure Hive Wallet Extension". The first thing to make clear is that it is indeed an extension that will be installed on your browser and its usefulness will be limited to that browser. You will not be able to access it on another computer or even another browser on your same machine.
And its link to the word "wallet" is that it actually includes a number of functions that will allow you to move money, power up and power down, delegate, transfer tokens, etc.
In fact, it has so many utilities as a wallet, that the mobile version is exclusively for that purpose.
But additionally, it allows us to be sure that our keys are safe with it, because they are stored in the browser and Keychain will only place those data on pages truly linked to Hive.
For me this has been the best tool they have developed and I use it with absolute confidence. You can count on Kive Keychain not to place your data on a phishing page.
Despite the multiple options it provides, today I will limit myself to explain in detail the installation so that you can use it as a key manager to enter the various applications and interfaces that work on Hive.
Aunque en el post arriba mencionado me refiero a Hive Keychain como una administrador de claves, en la página de descarga la definición que aparece es "Extensión segura del monedero de Hive". Lo primero que hay que dejar claro es que efectivamente se trata de una extensión que se instalará en tu navegador y su utilidad se limitará a ese navegador. No podrás accesarlo en otra computadora y ni siquiera en otro navegador en tu misma máquina.
Y su vinculación con la palabra "monedero" es que realmente incluye una cantidad de funciones que te permitirá mover dinero, hacer power up y power down, delegar,transferir tokens, etc.
De hecho, tiene tantas utilidades como monedero, que la versión para móviles es exclusivamente para ese fin.
Pero adicionalmente, nos permite tener la seguridad de que nuestras claves están a salvo con ella, pues las mismas se almacenan en el navegador y Keychain solo colocará esos datos en páginas verdaderamente vinculadas a Hive.
Para mí esta ha sido la mejor herramienta que han desarrollado y la uso con absoluta confianza. Puedes contar con que Kive Keychain no va a colocar ts datos en una página de Phishing.
A pesar de las múltiple opcionees que brinda, hoy me voy a limitar a explicar detalladamente la instalación para que la puedas usar como administrador de claves para ingresar en las distintas aplicacione so interfaces que trabajan sobre Hive.

As you can see above, Keychain is the default option on Hive.blog and Peakd.com. But it is also available on Ecency.com and most sites built on the Hive platform.
Ok, but if you don't have this extension installed yet, let's start at the beginning.
Hive Keychain is available for Firefox and Chrome browsers. But those same extensions work for browsers based on those distributions. So the Firefox extension will serve for the Waterfox browser, among others, and the Chrome extension will serve for its derivatives, including Brave Browser, which is the one I use and where I have it installed.

Como pueden ver arriba, Keychain es la opción predeterminada en Hive.blog y en Peakd.com. Pero también esta disponible en Ecency.com y en la mayoría de sitios construidos sobre la plataforma de Hive.
Bien, pero si aún no tienes instalada esta extensión, empecemos por el comienzo.
Hive Keychain está disponible para los navegadores Firefox y Chrome. Pero esas mismas extensiones sirven para navegadores basados en esas distribuciones. Así la extensión de Firefox servirá para el navegador Waterfox, entre otros, y la de Chrome servirá para sus derivados, incluyendo Brave Browser, que es el que yo uso y donde lo tengo instalado.

The first step is to go to the link above, according to your browser, and when you get there, tell it to add the extension to the browser.
The Firefox version includes a page in different languages (depending on the URL) and I chose English for this opportunity. While the Chrome page appears in the language in which you have configured the operating system of your computer ( which is why it appears in Spanish). The same happens with most of the texts in the Hive Keychain itself.
When you tell it to "Add to browser" a warning appears. In the case of Chrome, saying that they do not check the security of extensions and that you should only install it if you trust the developer. In the case of Firefox it only notifies you that the extension will have permission to view your data on web pages and browser activity while navigating.
El primer paso va a ser ir al enlace indicado arriba, según tu navegador, y al llegar a él, indicarle que agregue la extensión al navegador.
La versión para Firefox incluye página en diferentes idiomas (según la URL) y yo escogí para esta oportunidad el inglés. Mientras que la página de Chrome aparece en el idioma en que tienes configurado el sistema operativo de tu computadora. Lo mismo sucede con la mayoría de los textos en el propio Hive Keychain.
Al indicarle "Agregar al navegador" aparece una advertencia. En el caso de Chrome, diciendo que ellos no comprueban la seguridad de las extensiones y que solo debes instalarla si confías en el desarrollador. En el caso de Firefox solo te notifica que la extensión tendrá permiso para ver tus datos en las páginas web y a la actividad del navegador durante la navegación.

We already have the extension installed, now we locate it to click on it and start the configuration.
Ya tenemos instalada la extensión, ahora la ubicamos para hacerle clic y empezar la configuración.

And it is now when we can see the pop-up window that is where our tool will be presented from now on. As we do not have any registered data, the first screen we will be presented with is to create our personal password, which we will use every time we are going to activate it or every time we have to approve a transaction.
Our password must be between 8 and 16 characters long and must include uppercase, lowercase and some digits. Otherwise it will indicate an error, as you can see in the following image on the left.
Y es ahora cuando podemos ver la ventana emergente que es donde se nos va a presentar de ahora en adelante nuestra herramienta. Al no tener ningún dato registrado, la primera ventana que nos va a presentar es para crear nuestra clave personal, la que vamos a usar cada vez que vayamos a activarla o cada vez que debamos aprobar una transacción.
Nuestra clave debe tener entre 8 y 16 caracteres y debe incluir mayúsculas, minúsculos y algún dígito. De lo contrario indicará un error, como se puede ver en la siguiente imagen de la izquierda.

We are then presented with three options. I go from the last to the first one.
Keychain allows us to export the data, after registration, that is to say the accounts and their respective passwords, so that they can be imported, either for another browser or as a backup, in case you need to uninstall and reinstall it.
If this is your case, you can import it from this screen that appears after creating your personal password. To the right is the window that allows us to select the document in which we have them stored (created from this same screen).
A continuación se nos presentan tres opciones. Voy desde la última a la primera.
Keychain nos permite exportar los datos, después de registrados, es decir las cuentas y sus respectivas claves, de manera que se puedan importar, ya sea para otro navegador o como respaldo, en que caso de que te veas en la necesidad de desinstalarlo y volverlo a instalar.
Si este fuera tu caso, puedes importarlo desde esta pantalla que se nos presenta luego de crear nuestra clave personal. A la derecha está la ventana que nos permite seleccionar el documento en el que las tenemos almacenadas (creadas desde esta misma opción).

The following option I do not know of any cases where it is in use. This is the possibility of managing an account requiring the approval of several users, a system that allows operations only under consensus.
De la siguiente opción no conozco casos que la tengan en uso. Se trata de la posibilidad de manejar una cuenta requiriendo la aprobación de varios usuarios, un sistema que permite realizar operaciones solo bajo consenso.
And finally, the option 1, which is the one that we are going to use all those that we are installing it for the first time.
The option USE KEYS/PWD indicates that from there we are going to configure it with our user names and keys.
It is indifferent which key we place first, because later we are going to enter at least one more. For this occasion I am going to put first the posting key.
Y finalmente, la opción uno, que es la que vamos a utilizar todos los que la estamos instalando por primera vez.
La opción USE KEYS/PWD lo que nos indica es que desde allí vamos a configuarlo con nuestros nombres de usuarios y las claves.
Es indiferente cuál clave colocamos primero, pues luego vamos a ingresar al menos una más. Para esa ocasión voy a colocar primero la clave de publicaciones.

When the following screen appears, we are ready to use Hive Keychain, but only for operations that require the posting key. This configuration is useful for community accounts that are used by several people, but not all of them have access to the administration of the account.
Al aparecer la siguiente pantalla ya estamos listos para usar Hive Keychain, pero únicamente para operaciones que requieran de la clave de publicación. Configuración que es útil para cuentas de comunidades que son usadas por varias personas, pero que no todos tienen acceso a la administración de la misma.
However, for our case we are going to configure it completely so we need to register now the active key. To do this we will click on the accordion menu at the top right, which will display all the configuration options.
There we will select Manage Account, which will take us to a new screen where we can see the registered key and with the plus sign (+) we can add the active and/or Memo key and import it.
Sin embargo, para nuestro caso vamos a configurarlo completo por lo que necesitamos registrar ahora la clave activa. Para eso vamos a hacer clic en el menú de acordeón, arriba a la derecha, que nos va a desplegar todas las opciones de configuración.
Allí selecionaremos Gestionar Cuentas (Manage Account), lo que nos llevará a una nueva pantalla donde podemos ver la clave registrada y con el signo más (+) podemos agregar la activa y/o la clave de Memo e importarla.

This completes the basic configuration of our Keychain. From this moment on, in the pages that use Hive Keychain authentication, we only have to type our username and when we click on the login button, the Keychain pop-up window will appear asking us to authorize the operation. When we are just starting the browser, it will first ask us for our password, which will always be the one we created at the beginning of this process, NOT the Hive private keys.
Así terminamos la configuración básica de nuestro Keychain. A partir de este momento, en las páginas que usen la autenticación de Hive Keychain, solo debemos escribir nuestro nombre de usuario y al hacer clic en el botón de entrada, aparecerá la ventana emergente de Keychain pidiendo que autoricemos la operación. Cuando recién estamos iniciando el navegador, primero nos va a solicitar nuestra clave, que siempre será la que creamos al principio de este proceso, NO las claves privadas de Hive.
For each operation you are going to do: vote, comment, post, mark notifications read, etc. Keychain will show you this pop-up window, which becomes quite repetitive. But there are a number of these operations for which you can suppress the confirmation, which you do by checking the box indicated below. Even if you check it for all operations, there will always be some for which it is unavoidable, such as fund transfers, delegations, etc.
Por cada operación que vayas a hacer: votar, comentar, publicar, marcar notificaciones leídas, etc. Keychain te va a mostrar esta ventana emergente, lo que se hace bastante repetitivo. Pero hay una cantidad de esas operaciones para las cuales pueden suprimir la confirmación, lo cual haces seleccionando la casilla señalada acá abajo. Aunque la marques en todas las operaciones, siempre habrá algunas para las cuales es inevitable, como lo son las transferencias de fondos, delegaciones, etc.
And as the French say: voilà!, you are ready, you are logged in and you can see your avatar and your data, depending on the interface you are using, which in this case is Peakd.com, but which is the same for any other of the possible alternatives.
Y como dicen los franceses: voilà!, ya está listo, estas logueado y puedes ver tu avatar y tus datos, según la interfaz que estés usando, que en este caso es Peakd.com, pero que es igual para cualquier otra de las alternativas posibles.
Once you have done this, you can start to see the different options that Hive Keychain offers you, which allows you to do a lot of operations from there, such as automating the claiming of rewards, making delegations, voting witnesses, sending money and many more.
If it is of interest to the readers, later I could elaborate a tutorial where I show the multiple advantages that this tool offers you. For now, I just wanted to show the step by step installation and setup of this secure extension.

Saludos amigo @ylich excelente tutorial de Hive Keychain, yo he instalado la aplicación en mi teléfono móvil, cuando le doy para que escaneo el codigo no hace nada.
Debes tener las claves registradas en el llavero del navegador de la computadora, abres esa versión web, te vas a "Gestionar cuentas" y allí oprimes SHOW QR CODE!. Luego en la versión móvil le indicas agregar usuario, colocas el nombre y en lugar de colocar las claves, oprimes la opción de QR y escaneas el código. ¡Así debería funcionarte bien! 😉
