Zugang zu Trinkwasser
771 Millionen Menschen auf der Welt haben keinen Zugang zu sauberem Trinkwasser.
Dabei ist die Menge des vorhandenen Trinkwassers global ausreichend, um ca. 20 Milliarden Menschen zu versorgen.
Könnte man den globalen Niederschlag gleichmäßig verteilen, entfielen auf jeden der aktuell knapp 8 Milliarden Menschen 37.500 Liter Wasser pro Tag. Der durchschnittliche Deutsche verbraucht gerade einmal 127 Liter pro Tag. (https://nevensuboticstiftung.de/blogs/gibt-es-genug-wasser)
Das Problem liegt aber wie so oft an der Verteilung des Wassers. Dabei gibt es geographische Unterschiede zwischen z.B. den Äquatorialen Bereichen mit sehr hohem Niederschlag und den Wendekreisen mit relativ niedrigem.
Aber auch in Regionen mit eigentlich genügend Niederschlag, fehlt es oft an der notwendigen Infrastruktur, um den Niederschlag aufzufangen und nutzbar zu machen. Von der Verschmutzung des Wassers ganz zu schweigen.
Access to drinking water
771 million people in the world have no access to clean drinking water.
Yet the amount of drinking water available globally is sufficient to supply around 20 billion people.
If global precipitation could be distributed evenly, each of the current 8 billion people would use 37,500 litres of water per day. The average German consumes just 127 litres per day. (https://nevensuboticstiftung.de/blogs/gibt-es-genug-wasser)
However, as is so often the case, the problem lies in the distribution of water. There are geographical differences between, for example, the equatorial areas with very high rainfall and the tropics with relatively low rainfall.
But even in regions with sufficient rainfall, there is often a lack of the necessary infrastructure to collect and utilise the rainfall. Not to mention the pollution of the water.
Wasser und Klimawandel
Das gute ist, das der Wasserhaushalt auf der Erde über die Jahrmillionen wohl nahezu konstant ist. Zwar waren in der Eiszeit die Meeresspiegel deutlich niedriger. Das lag aber vor allem daran, dass Wasser in Form von Eis gebunden war.
Eine Veränderung der klimatischen Bedingungen hat also nicht automatisch zur Folge, dass uns das Wasser ausgeht.
Eine Erhöhung der Durchschnittstemperatur hat jedoch zur Folge, dass der Wasserkreislauf in Form von Verdunstung und Niederschlag schneller von statten geht.
Die Atmosphäre erhält in kürzeren Abständen mehr Wasser, welches dann in heftigeren Niederschlägen zu Boden geht. Diese Niederschläge sind nicht nur gefährlich für die Menschen. Das Wasser kann auch nicht so gut nutzbar gemacht werden da Speicherkapazitäten fehlen.
Ich will hier nicht darüber diskutieren, ob der Klimawandel menschengemacht ist, oder wir ihn aufhalten können oder nicht. Es ist jedoch Fakt, dass die höheren Temperaturen, denen wir uns im Durchschnitt ausgesetzt sehen, zu dem oben genannten Problem führen.
Bereits heute ist Wassermangel in einzelnen Regionen die häufigste Ursache für Wander- und Fluchtbewegung also Migration. Noch vor Krieg, oder wirtschaftlichen Gründen.
Water and climate change
The good thing is that the Earth's water balance has probably remained almost constant over millions of years. It is true that sea levels were significantly lower during the ice age. However, this was mainly due to the fact that water was trapped in the form of ice.
A change in climatic conditions therefore does not automatically mean that we are running out of water.
However, an increase in the average temperature means that the water cycle in the form of evaporation and precipitation is faster.
The atmosphere receives more water at shorter intervals, which then falls to the ground in heavier precipitation. This precipitation is not only dangerous for people. The water cannot be utilised as well because there is a lack of storage capacity.
I don't want to discuss here whether climate change is man-made or whether we can stop it or not. However, it is a fact that the higher temperatures we are facing on average are leading to the above-mentioned problem.
Already today, water shortages in some regions are the most common cause of migration. Even before war or economic reasons.
Zugang zu Wasser ermöglichen
Eine gute Lösung für die Wasserknappheit ist der Aufbau von Salzwasser Entsalzungsanlagen.
Diese kosten jedoch eine Menge Strom und das entstehende Trinkwasser ist hauptsächlich in den Küstenregionen verfügbar.
Ein anderer Weg ist das Bohren tiefer Brunnen und die Errichtung der notwendigen Infrastruktur in Ländern, die eigentlich über genügend Niederschlag verfügen, diesen aber nicht für die Menschen nutzbar machen können.
Hier setzt die Neven Subotic Stiftung an.
Mit ihrem WASH Konzept (WAsser, Sanitar und Hygiene) baut die Stiftung Brunnen, sowie Sanitäranlagen für Dörfer und Schulen in Äthiopien, Kenia und Tansania.
Dies erhöht nicht nur die Lebenserwartung in diesen Regionen enorm. Es ermöglicht auch gerade den Kindern in die Schule zu gehen, da sie nicht mehr Wasserkanister über viele Kilometer bis zu ihrem Haus schleppen müssen.
Dabei kommen 100 % der Spenden in der Region an. Neven Subotic selbst trägt alle Kosten, die die Verwaltung der Stiftung erzeugt, wie z.B. Reisekosten etc. @ynwa.andree hat mich vor ca. 2 Jahren auf die Stiftung aufmerksam gemacht und ich habe erstmals dorthin gespendet.
Mir ist es wichtig, nicht nur in der D-A-CH Region zu spenden, sondern auch international. Dabei ist es aber wichtig, dass man der Hilfsorganisation vertraut. Bei dieser Stiftung bin ich mir sehr sicher. Somit unterstütze ich die Stiftung gerne ein zweites und sicher auch nicht zum letzten Mal.
Enabling access to water
A good solution to the water shortage is the construction of salt water desalination plants.
However, these cost a lot of electricity and the resulting drinking water is mainly available in coastal regions.
Another way is to drill deep wells and build the necessary infrastructure in countries that actually have sufficient rainfall but are unable to utilise it for people.
This is where the Neven Subotic Foundation comes in.
With its WASH concept (WAter, Sanitisation and Hygiene), the foundation builds wells and sanitary facilities for villages and schools in Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania.
This not only increases life expectancy in these regions enormously. It also enables children in particular to go to school, as they no longer have to carry water canisters many kilometres to their homes.
And 100% of the donations reach the region. Neven Subotic himself bears all the costs incurred by the administration of the foundation, such as travelling expenses, etc. @ynwa.andree drew my attention to the foundation about 2 years ago and I donated to it for the first time.
It is important to me to donate not only in the D-A-CH region, but also internationally. However, it is important to trust the aid organisation. I am very sure about this foundation. I am therefore happy to support the foundation for a second time and certainly not for the last time.
