Obdachlosigkeit != Wohnungslosigkeit

Laut Schätzungen sind Deutschlandweit etwa 600.000 Menschen wohnungslos. Das bedeutet, sie haben keinen Wohnraum, der entweder Ihnen gehört, oder Ihnen über einen Mietvertrag überlassen wurde.

Während die Zahl der Wohnungslosen von 1995 bis ca. 2008 stetig sank, stieg sie seit dem wieder an. Zunächst langsam bis 2016, dann aufgrund der Flüchtlingskrise deutlich.

Seit 2016 wird zwischen wohnungslosen Flüchtlingen und nicht-Flüchtlingen unterschieden. Während die Zahl "deutscher" wohnungsloser seit 2017 relativ konstant blieb, nahm die Zahl wohnungsloser Geflüchteter stetig ab, bis sie 2022 aufgrund der Ukrainekrise wieder stark stieg.

Homelessness != Homelessness

According to estimates, around 600,000 people in Germany are homeless (wohnungslos). This means that they have no living space that they own or that has been given to them under a tenancy agreement.

While the number of homeless people fell steadily from 1995 to around 2008, it has risen again since then. Slowly at first until 2016, then significantly due to the refugee crisis.

Since 2016, a distinction has been made between homeless refugees and non-refugees. While the number of ‘German’ homeless people has remained relatively constant since 2017, the number of homeless refugees fell steadily until it rose sharply again in 2022 due to the Ukraine crisis.

Ca. 50.000 dieser Menschen sind obdachlos. Dies bedeutet, dass Sie auch Nachts keine Zuflucht in einem geschützten Raum, wie z.B. einem Wohnheim oder ähnlichem haben. Gerade diese Menschen benötigen unser aller Unterstützung, da Sie oft auch unverschuldet durchs soziale Netz hindurchrutschen.

Around 50,000 of these people are homeless. This means that even at night they have no refuge in a sheltered space, such as a hostel or similar. These people in particular need support from all of us, as they often slip through the social net through no fault of their own.

Ein Bus für Obdachlose

In Hamburg allein sind ca. 2.000 Menschen obdachlos. Ein Thema was @tibfox auch stark bewegt. Deshalb war auch geplant auf seiner @buzzparty 3 Poster zu versteigern, und den Erlös an die DRK Obdachlosenhilfe zu spenden.

Eine Aktion, die @hive.helps gerne unterstützt.

Bei der @buzzparty hat es nun zeitlich nicht geklappt, die Aktion durchzuführen, aber @tibfox holt das sicher nach, sobald er sich von den Anstrengungen der Orga für so eine große Veranstaltung erholt hat. Was ich auf Hive gelesen habe, war es ein großartiges und sehr vielseitiges Event.

Unabhängig davon geht die Hive.Helps April Spende an die Obdachlosenhilfe des DRK Hamburg-Nordost e.V..

A bus for the homeless

In Hamburg alone, around 2,000 people are homeless. A topic that @tibfox also feels strongly about. That's why he planned to auction off 3 posters at his @buzzparty and donate the proceeds to the DRK homeless aid organisation.

A campaign that @hive.helps is happy to support.

The @buzzparty didn't have the time to organise the campaign, but @tibfox will certainly make up for it as soon as he has recovered from the efforts of organising such a big event. From what I've read on Hive, it was a great and very diverse event.

Regardless, the Hive.Helps April donation will go to the homeless aid organisation DRK Hamburg-Nordost e.V..

Der Bus fährt zweimal die Woche raus und versorgt obdachlose Menschen mit dem nötigsten. Etwas zu Essen, warme Getränke, Gespräche und vor allem zeigen sie Respekt gegenüber diesen Menschen. Etwas was sonst zu wenig kommt.

The bus goes out twice a week and provides homeless people with the most basic necessities. Something to eat, warm drinks, conversation and, above all, they show respect for these people. Something that is otherwise neglected.

Was kann man tun?

Es gibt viele Gründe, wie es zu Obdachlosigkeit kommen kann. Grundsätzlich gibt es zu wenig günstigen Wohnraum in Deutschland. Spekulation auf höhere Immobilienpreise tun ihr übrigens. Aber auch unsinnige Bauvorgaben erschweren es Bauträgern neuen Wohnraum günstig zu erstellen und anzubieten. Von den fehlenden Fachkräften, um diese Projekte voranzutreiben ganz zu schweigen.

Es gibt einen nationalen Aktionsplan mit dem bis 2030 die Obdach- und Wohnungslosigkeit in Deutschland überwunden werden soll. Dort steht auch vieles gutes drin. Jetzt muss es aber auch umgesetzt werden, und wie so oft stehen sich dabei die verschiedenen Ebenen der Politik gegenseitig im Weg.

Hoffen wir, dass das unsere Gesellschaft das Problem so in den Griff bekommt. Bis dahin kann jeder helfen, in dem er selbst nicht weg schaut, sondern hilft. Wenn man sich nicht sicher ist, ob jemand wirklich obdachlos, oder ein Betrüger ist, kann man aber auch einfach die Vereine vor Ort, wie das DRK, die Caritas, die Heilsarmee oder ähnliche Verbände unterstützen.

What can you do?

There are many reasons why people can become homeless. Basically, there is not enough affordable housing in Germany. Speculation on higher property prices is one of the reasons. But nonsensical building regulations also make it difficult for property developers to create and offer new housing at favourable prices. Not to mention the lack of skilled labour to drive these projects forward.

There is a national action plan aimed at overcoming homelessness in Germany by 2030. It also contains many good points. But now it has to be implemented and, as is so often the case, the various levels of politics are getting in each other's way.

Let's hope that our society can get to grips with the problem. Until then, everyone can help by not looking away, but helping. If you are not sure whether someone is really homeless or a fraudster, you can also simply support local organisations such as the German Red Cross, Caritas, the Salvation Army or similar associations.

Derzeit können leider keine Spendenbescheinigungen ausgestellt werden. Es wird gerade geprüft, ab wann es sich lohnen würde eine gemeinnützige GmbH zu gründen, um eine höhere Verbindlichkeit und steuerliche Vorteile zu erzeugen.
