My home directory is a mess
Intro
Family time is precious to me and since I can only see them on the weekends I took the time off from my development sprint. Now that the week has begun its back to the old grind stone.
Building the World (well the first room really)
One of the key aspects of the game is how you interact with your creatures that have been brought to life with the help of the Seeds you find through out the game. These seeds along with the creatures that you create must absorb data and information about our planet in order to create new things, have inspiration, and charge their stone. So as a part of the game your home directory(folder) is scanned and added as objects. In the picture above you see an early development image of the files and folders represented as simple shapes. The boxes are the folders(directories) and the files are the pill shaped objects. Tomorrow I'll focus on making these look more like things you would have in a house.
- Pictures look like photographs.
- Text files look like letters, and notes.
- Music file look like CDs.
You get the idea.
These files are on your local machine and no data is modified or extracted from these files. They are, in every way local. When it comes time to create the in game items based on you scanning your files everything will be done to protect your privacy.
As and added bonus I'll be adding Hive and nftshowroom support at some point. When that is done I hope to be able to add canvas with your purchased artwork that you can display on your walls within the game. It's not all that useful, but it will add a lot of character to the game.

As usual, here are some progress shots that have gotten us to this point. Though the file and folder object creation is probably the most interesting part I did spend a considerable amount of time trying to make the home look like someone might live there. Still a lot left to do though.
Future work.
The world outside the home is still being decided, in the game documents I have two main classes the Engineer and the Mystic(for lack of a better name.) Both create Allonian's much in the same way, but one will have a more magical leaning to the designs and the abilities given to them. But where do they live? That is the question.

I'm excited to continue my work tomorrow on making the home look lived in complete with all sorts of file magic! So stay tuned for the next update.
