One of the tallest flowers on the arctic tundra is the yellow Poppy. This hardy plant is one of the first to bloom, alongside the purple saxifrage. But unlike its tiny purple friend, the Arctic Poppy can still be found in bloom up until the snow flies.

Facing 80 km/h (50 mph) winds, this little plant is one tough button! Bumblebees in the arctic love to pollenate them and you can often find a few of the giant arctic bumblebees doddling around a yellow patch of nodding poppies.
