Every last Saturday of the month is usually a general monthly sanitation in my state, Akwa Ibom especially in the capital, Uyo. So today being the last Saturday, I joined in the exercise at my Aunt's where I came to sleep over.
On this day most often, the road is usually dry between the hours of 7am and 10am because movement is always restricted and the Sanitation Task Force usually go around in mini buses to pick up defaulters. Some days, many people are arrested on the road and taken to the Sanitation Court where they end up paying a fine or detained for some hours depending on their excuses.
I tried clearing out some weed around the house, then I noticed this bricked windows of my Aunt's shop where pieces of papers and empty packs and sachet were stuff into the spaces. I noticed that some of those trash have been there for a very long time. I decided to clear them so the window would look neat and nice again.
I know it's unhygienic to use my bare hands. There were no hand gloves available. So I washed my hands with soap and water after trashing the refuse.
I always, enjoy the monthly sanitation exercise because it doesn't just give me the opportunity to clean my surrounding but also the thrill of seeing the Tasks Force chasing offenders and husking them into their vehicles. It's always an entertainment.
