Hello Hivers 💘💕,

In Agricultural mindset where we have the rainy season and the dry season here in Nigeria compared to other countries where they have like four Different Seasons and of which some of them are good for planting and cultivating of crops. Here in Nigeria they rainy season always bring about more abundance of rainfall even the morning dew does a lot of good to both cultivated crops and unwanted plant. And in this case as a farmer you need to engage in constant weeding if care is not taken. You will always lose even during in the rainy season when you are supposed to enjoy the massive harvest of both green vegetables, tuber crops, and the fruits.

This is why you will always find in my post or article engaging in this type of activity constantly. It is not because of the rainfall itself but it is a Norm that was be done at the accurate time. Then agriculture when the timing is wrong all what you are planting or even raining of animals are extremely on the other side. You must be calculative and also be good in timing. This brought me to this particular reading that I engage using the primitive tools.

Even though they are ancient way of eradicating unwanted plants it is also one of the quickest and the best method of usage at the moment. When I get to the farm within few minutes I engage in my hand weeding and also the use of cutlass and hoes.

When you over look some steps and agriculture you will end up losing the whole lot of agricultural produce even though it is absolutely small to your face but when you engage in 100% weeding it will affect your already cultivated crops. Just like in the case of Maize. When you plant your maize you will always keep on weeding to bring the best out of the production season. But when you manipulate your way there in and day out if you always affect your planted 🌽🌽.

Why I always use the hand weeding is that, it makes my farm looks more neater and it makes the farm very scary to farm predators.

Farming with a lot of weeds surrounding your cultivated crops will always bring about growth competition. I've done this several times while I was making farm experiment. Although it was not intentional but I did not show up for a while on the farm. But when I got there it was extremely a terrible situation because I could not really identify what I planted in the last few months compared to the type of weed competition I met. It was really confusing. So as at that time I lost a lot of crops but I gained some more knowledge which has been of help till today.

I always encourage people to engage in this practice without season. If you want to know farmer that are good at what they do they always engage in weeding aspect even more than planting of seeds. When you plant your seed and you did not manage your farm it will end up being a lost.

No matter the type of crop you are cultivating Maize, Cowpea, sugarcane, carrots, green beans, garlic Ginger, onion, cassava, Aloa Vera, potatoes, cocoyam you must always engage in weeding. I will also show you more of these in my subsequent Jute vegetable farm.

What I will encourage people is that this is how I manage my own farm. And it has been of help for several years, this is what I mean. Constant engagement in Weeding of unwanted plant with the motive of creating more visible environment for your planted crops. We were being thought even while we were in school ( university) we always engage in supervising our own plot of land regularly to avoid diminishing of point at the end of the semester.

You are very right Sir.
Maize and weed are never friends, not just maize but all crops. The part you talked about pests and predators being exposed by regular farm weeding is absolutely right. Thanks for sharing this interesting and great farm activity with everyone in the @agriculturalmindset community.
