When you are asked that how do the hips and ridges looks like? this is an example. I visited the farm recently and I saw them making hips which is absolutely good for planting of any crop. This crop can be determined by individual but most likely when you have a very newly hips and ridges this way, you can plant crops like maize, cassava, yam, potato, rice,cowpea,sugarcane carrot, pepper, tomato and so on, So all these crops may be determined due to what the Farmer has at the moment and it also depend on his for her financial capacity. We have so many people who are able to carry a lot of acres of land for production and they will absolutely utilize it. Whereas we have some others with low capacity financially and they will also utilize what they have and produce in the small quantity.
When you have an agricultural Farmland that you have already secured you shoe try as much as possible to clear it this way and also try as much as possible to make hips or ridges to make your crop utilize it nutrients naturally without any negative effect on crops or the soil itself. I am bringing up this so that it will be more easier to identify when you are supposed to make hips and ridges for your crops.
- What what you see is the already prepared hips and ridges. The discussion with the farmer, I was told that it will be used to plant more potatoes. Yes potato is one of the cross that is being cultivated by few people or few farmers. So when you are into it you need to also dedicate a lot of time to eat to see that it growth and development is very secured.
Whichever planting method you want to use for potatoes or any crawling plants you must make sure that you make hips and ridges. This will make your farm to also appear neat. As soon as there is any traces of weed competition it will be very clear even to those that are passing by. We need to always make sure that planting of crops is highly secured by any type of planting method using any type of planting tools as well.
- Mainly the type of planting tools that can be used here is manual tools. Which means that the use of cutlass and holes are highly recommended. What you also need to do is to hire more laborers so that they will help you to fix a lot of planting strategies. For every crop it needs one planting strategy or the other.
When you plant using rows and column it will make your crop to also free from different predators. This predators can be a form of colony or groups. When they see that there are different channels that can bring more entering into the farm they will always pass through the way. Just like the grasscutter and some other animals. The lead will always be one. Then others we follow. And before you know it they will build their own channel and home in your farm making it difficult for you as a farmer to eradicate them fully.
Making sure that the cultivated crop is very safe and healthy for cultivation. There is always a way to make sure that you can channel your planting seed leaves or Vine to see to it, if it will make a positive way before you plant them fully. So ensuring that this type of method is used is highly recommended. It may take a lot of our time but I can boast that it absolutely one of the best way or method to increase productivity and yield in farming.

Yes. Is why using this method as a lot of advantages even beyond the ones we already know. It is used to control a lot of defect in agriculture.

That tip about keeping the rows tight to break the grasscutter paths is gold, and the ridges look very tidy for POtato tubers. Your right, clean lines make weeds pop out fast and save time on labor :) As an accountant, I love how order in the field turns into order in yield, it just add up. If cash is thin, using a simple hoe well beats buying inputs you donβt need.
