”Magtanim ay ’Di Biro” *I almost collapsed because of heat

in Agricultural Mindset4 months ago (edited)

Hi Hello everyone, it's me @mynamesrai it's kinda sunny today but I bet it would start raining randomly again just like what happened yesterday, the sun was blazing but then suddenly it started raining cats and dogs. Anyways, have you tried cropping or planting corn in the farm? It's not easy huh? because it really is not an easy work to do, and I bet you noticed that the title of this blog is a song haha, are you familiar with that song? Because I am, and now I finally realized what this song meant, this song was my elementary song every morning or afternoon my teacher would make us sing this song but I never appreciate and realized it before as much as I did right now.

And today, I'm gonna be sharing to you guys my experiences during cropping the corns in the farm together with my mother, friends and my elder aunties and uncles, because it's very interesting when tho it was very tiring to the point where you would want to lay your body down in the middle of the farm.

Let's Dive in!

It all started when my mother asked me if I want to help our neighbor (which is just our relatives) to plant their corn in their farm and they would pay us by day and since I still don't have classes yet, I agreed, who wouldn't want money? im desperate to have money that's from my hardship and work, so I told my mother that ”Okay, I will. I also want to earn money by myself tho haha” and then on Monday, we already started doing the work, I was afraid i would mess up in the farm but then I wasn't the only young one in there anyway, my friend was there as well. He said that after we get our salary, he would buy his bebe (which is his chicken rooster) feeds and vitamins haha.

On our first day, we started earlier than I expected, we left our house at 6:00 a.m and we started at probably 7:00 a.m in the morning, the sun rises already at 7:00 a.m but the heat was not that strong yet, so the first thing we did we started distributing the fertilizer which was the worms hummus, because they said that it was good for plants and it would make the corns healthy and fat. The farm was already furrowed by the Carabao so we just followed the line of the furrow by putting the fertilizer and it was pretty simple, it was just like sprinkling the fertilizer along the line.

But since it was our first time doing it, the elders taught us how to do it right and the proper amount of fertilizer to be put on the farm land, since we need to conserve the fertilizer to suffice for the entire farm (The farm was pretty wide y'all, it was almost as wide as my previous school/wider haha) so anyways, while sprinkling the fertilizer overtime the sun’s heat bacame stronger and stronger and it was very humid because our face was covered with a fabric to avoid the heat, because it was closer to noon especially when it reachers 10:00 a.m the sun was blazing non stop, I almost burned my neck thankfully I covered my neck with the fabric together with my face to avoid the sweat from getting into my eyes, since sweats are bad when it gets inside your eyes.

While I was sprinkling the fertilizer, all I felt was the tiredness and the striking heat the heat was almost not bearable and I can feel my body weakening I feel like I'm about to throw up because of the humidity and heat, and while I was enduring the pain I realized a lot of things haha. At that time, inside my head was like ”I’m not the only one that's tired, my mother and everyone else are tired as well, my friends are tired, my aunties are tired. We are all tired. But how can they smile and joke around in the middle of this kind of heat? How can they laugh when it's so hot and humid? We almost has no air we can inhale. And then I realized that there is no answer in my question, it is not easy, it's not easy to earn money on your own, especially when you have to provide for your family, it's not easy to do the things you have to do to earn money just to give the life you want for your family.

This is the reality, in order to have money you must work extra hard for it, it's all about hardship and perseverance.

While they were laughing I looked at them and I looked at my mother, I can't help but think while I was at school and sometimes I would ask her ”Wow, you really have money now mom. You're rich now huh? hahaha” even tho it's just a small amount of money, she would tell me that she goes to ”obra” in the neighborhoods farm to support and give us allowance for school everyday.

And then I can't help but think at that time, is this what my mother had gone through to provide for us everyday?? by enduring the heat and tiredness, its not easy. It was super tiring and everything, but I was thankful that I got to experience that, I realized so many things that I wasn't able to figure out before. And when the day ended, we got our separate ways and gone home. That night, I cried so hard not because of tiredness but because of the helplessness I felt for my parents because of my realizations. But then I told myself that I can't cry because we still have another day to finish planting the corns hahaha. We weren't able to finish it on dag one, that's why we came back on the farm the day after and we did the same thing we did yesterday until we were able to finish the whole farm.

And while singing the song ”magtanim ay ’di biro” I learned that planting really is not a joke ”maghapong nakayuko” while cropping the corn, and having backaches. After a long day, you would suffer a lot of muscle aches or soreness in your body at night. AND THAT’S IT FOR TODAY, GAYS I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS DRAMATIC AND DIRECT STORY OF MINE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING EVERYONE, ADIEU!

That one old song really tells how hard the life of a farmer. Imagine kahit sa kainitan, they have no choice kundi yumuko at magtanim, halos ganon din kapag anihan na diba. I didn't experiencing planting rice or corn, pero na experience ko naman nagtanim sa school ng gulay gulay, at grabi kahirap talaga. Aguyy. Anyways, clap clap to your mom for being a cool and awesome provider ✨✨

omoo, thank you so much ms. @ruffatotmeee I appreciate it a lott, and it's truee even sa kainitan they really have no choice but to plant. because that's how they work, and it's amazing that without them we wouldn't be able to eat vegetables.

The old song that there are singing while planting rice, when I was in school like elementary we also sing that I'm the class.. now a days to much hot so much be be careful for heat stroke.. it's the hard work of the farmers must be appreciated..

truee, farmers really are an unnoticed superhero in our town.

At that time, inside my head was like ”I’m not the one that's tired, my mother and everyone else was tired as well, my friends was tired, my aunties was tired. We are all tired. But how can they smile and joke around in the middle of this kind of heat? How can they laugh when it's so hot and humid? We almost has no air we can inhale. Very well said. 👏 sometimes, we really have to experience the same thing in order to fully understand what it feels like. Putting ourselves on another's shoe makes us realize many things that we never realize before.

this is so reall Ms. @rufajane, after doing that work I realized tons of things about life just like our parent's sacrifices to give us a decent life.
