Thank you for sharing your experience on Hive :) What is your location/country ? Predators are a real serious concern here too in Canada. Raccoons brake-in welded wires. So we have to sleep at night with the ears open, just like your heard the noise and dogs and knew something was wrongs with the safety of your birds.
Since we moved away from our farm location we are thinking of a surveillance tool you might enjoy one day. Night vision camera with predator detection and alarms /notifications/actions.
