Hi, it's great that I found my way here :)
A while ago, my wife and I bought a piece of land. I'm from Poland, so the gardening season is quite short. You can start in March and expect a harvest in September. Of course, we have several seasons during the spring, summer, and autumn, but the fact is that we mainly harvest fruits and vegetables in June, July, August, and September. In between, we also have forests full of mushrooms, berries, and other wonderful forest undergrowth.
But getting back to my land, there's an old German cellar on my property, which the previous owner covered with a roof. I've created a very interesting space there, where, on one side, you can store potatoes and other tubers for the winter, or... after installing a small stove, you can grow various mushrooms.
The most popular are, of course, button mushrooms or oyster mushrooms, but I've been thinking about the lion's mane mushroom lately.
I don't know if you've encountered this mushroom, if you know anything about it, or if you have experience growing it. I'd appreciate your opinions.
Besides, our plot of land has its own well, some fruit trees, and—quite unusual in Poland—the previous owner grew artichokes there.
The land is currently quite neglected, as it's been dormant for a few years. In the spring, I mowed some of the tall grass, but it didn't help much. This summer has been exceptionally rainy, and the vegetation is simply going wild; it's hard to stop it.
Starting in spring 20206, we're planning to do more work on our land. We not only want to grow mushrooms in our basement, but also utilize the soil we have around us. Much of it is quite sandy, so not much can be grown there (potatoes or raspberries, we're also thinking about planting sea buckthorn), but there's also a large area of black earth that I'd like to transform into a vegetable garden. We're also considering buying a few goats and letting them "develop" the land a bit before we start growing crops. We would be grateful for your comments, inspiration, and ideas.
The land measures 0.37 hectares, but part of it contains the ruins of a former German inn.
What would you do with such a haven of paradise?
Uprawiałem soplówkę jeżowatą z gotowego zestawu z allegro, nie wyrosła jakaś potężna, ale w sumie to bardzo prosty proces. To raczej tak rozrywkowo, bo ciężko z dawkowaniem świeżego grzyba. Ale suplement w kapsułkach bardzo pozytywnie odczułem.
Myślę o "przemysłowej hodowli" na szersza skalę, bo warunki do tego mam dobre. A może kilka grzybów naraz? 😃
You're both living part of my dream of owning a land and experimenting with different types of crops, building a garden or an orchard of sorts. I wish I could give some opinions on the specifics on what to grow as I'm not really versed in that domain yet. I think it's a really good idea to have some animals like goat roam about the area and boost the learn fertility before you start sowing plants.
Goats are a great idea to get rid of all unwanted vegetation, they can eat anything, one once ate my friend's motorbike :D

Your plan with the old cellar and growing mushrooms like lion’s mane is really smart and unique. You’re not just thinking about today but also preparing for the future. Having a well fruit trees and even the idea of raising goats is something truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your journey. It gives hope and inspiration to simple people like me who also love farming.
