The planting of fresh tomato is seasonal, and here in Etsako Edo state Nigeria, the planting season started in August.
We have few ones just germinating at the side of our house, so myself and my neighbor decided to transplant them to a better place with good sandy-loamy soil.
It's usually safe to allow them grow to a certain level before transplanting them, so the chances of surviving is higher.
We moved the first few batch few weeks ago in the evening, one of them has started bringing out tomato fruit already because it's more than 2 weeks we moved it.
Steps in transplanting growing tomato
- making sure the tomato plant has germinate to a high level
- The uprooting from the source should contain some soil
- Make sure you water the area they are to be planted a little bit
- Don't overcrowd the planting area with too many plants
- Make a little rigges or hips for them
- any dry leave in the stem can be removed gently
Since the ground is still wet and has alot of water underneath, the need to water it is not really necessary, but in this case we had to water it the first day we planted them because rain hasn't fall for some days.
