Lazy Farm Update

here, I was wishing a coconut would just fall and make my day

This is me doing a very lazy farm update because I’m honestly exhausted as I write this.

So this year, I decided I would keep visiting my parents’ house until it’s finally time for corn harvest. I’ve never really been around during harvest season before, which means I’ve missed out on all the fun, eating freshly boiled corn straight from the farm and actually experiencing the harvesting process itself. And honestly, that feels like a crime considering how much I love corn. Lol.

So yeah, I’ve been home more often lately, even though the plants are still very young.

Today, my mom and I went to the farm to get some African pumpkin leaves for soup. We could have bought them from the market, but after the last experience we had, absolutely not. The last leaves we bought nearly sent all of us to the afterlife through nonstop stooling. Till today, I strongly believe the farmer overloaded them with fertilizer or something equally suspicious.

So this time, we decided to play it safe and get fresh leaves directly from my mom’s farm. The walk there was actually enjoyable. I loved the calm breeze, open paths, greenery everywhere, twas very peaceful. But the sun almost peeled my scalp off my head though. Next time, I’m definitely wearing a sunhat because what was that heat?

Anyway, we finally got to the farm only to meet pure heartbreak. Some people had allowed their goats to roam around freely and those animals had absolutely no respect for boundaries. They damaged so many of our crops. They chewed through some of the corn plants, destroyed a good amount of the pumpkin leaves, ate the waterleafs, and even dug up planted cassava.

For a moment, my mom just stood there staring in disbelief before the anger finally landed. She immediately called out the owner of the goats and let’s just say, the conversation that followed was not peaceful at all. There was a very heated exchange right there on the farm.

I understand her frustration because farming is already stressful enough without animals treating your hard work like an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Anyway, we eventually gathered the little pumpkin leaves that survived the attack and headed back home not too long after. Hopefully, the goat owner keeps them under control moving forward because letting animals trespass into people’s farms and destroy crops is honestly unfair.

Right now, I’m mostly worried about the corn plants. I really hope the damage doesn’t affect their growth or stop them from yielding properly when harvest season finally comes around. Because after all this anticipation, I deserve my fresh boiled corn in peace.

bye, I love mangoes

I don’t know but I hope this is lazy enough or maybe I have done too much. Uggh!
