Hi everyone π π€. i want to discuss mixed farming as a game-changer when it comes to farming with limited resources. From January to June, we grew maize simultaneously with yam. During the second quarter, we began planting potatoes - as you all know, we had just concluded seven days of nonstop rain. After this period, we planted another batch of potatoes. The potatoes have begun to grow, and by the grace of God, we will harvest them by December. We chose potatoes because they act as natural weed killers, preventing weeds from taking over the land, especially during this rainy season.
The maize plant is also doing well, as you can see in the first picture.
My uncle plans to buy pesticides as usual to scare away bugs π and grasshoppers that may invade the plants. Within the farm, we also have okra and beans - hopefully, they will produce well too. Mixed farming has helped saved our time, energy and money. We did not clear the bush for fun. Right now, we are happily engaged in farming and other activities.
